ZAZA4EVER , Can you please tell how to skip compressing "-boot-flow-logo.bik & -test-fmv-Cutscene.bik" with bpk in ultraarc ?
i used "arc.groups", but in vain , bpk always won't skip them and show errors !thanks!

You have to write every single bik/bk2 file down into arc.groups (remove *.bpk, *.bk2 from arc.groups) except for the two mentionel files.

To do this the fast way, make a batch file in game folder and execute to save all *.bk2 files into a text file
dir /s /b *.bk2 > _List.txt

Copy the contens of the text file to arc.groups $binkpack

PS: If you open the text file, maybe you have to remove driveletter:\gamefolder before (just press ctrl+h in notepad and replace driveletter:\gamefolder with nothing (just leave "replace with" blank)).
PPS: If the game use *.bik files instead of *.bk2, replace *.bk2 with *.bik in your batch.

Metro Exodus Compression ?

I remember trying to make a precompressor for this but I just didn't finish it and I no longer have the game so I guess I should download it first and try to write the complete code for precompression. :(

Not specific, but more general: is there a way to pause Arc compression and return again?

If I wanted to stop overnight then begin the following day: is this possible?

I know you can click the command window and click "select" - perhaps doing this and then putting the computer to sleep would have the desired effect?

Ctrl+S in a CMD window, or click on icon of the window, select edit and mark. After you mark the text, the process pauses. Pressing Enter will resume the window.

And yes, if you pause it that way and put it in sleep/hibernate - it will resume. Hibernation is guaranteed to resume properly, not so sure about sleep.

Thank you both, I was doubtful on whether it would work.

I had srep running on Batman Enemy Within for 5 hours with lolz still to go and I don't like the idea of leaving my computer unsupervised (I've seen too many photos of PCs catching fire).

Check the temperature of the processor during compression, if it does not exceed 60 degrees, there is no problem. I compress repeatedly without shutting down the computer for weeks.

I was having issues with the CIU during setup with that game using oggre. It would get to the ogg files which were packed in a .bra format and when it started processing them it would crash saying the files did not match checksum yet i was using original files plus in this case with this game oggre did not make much of a compression difference. i know i could have gotten it smaller but i would much rather trade off 50-100 mb of extra image size than have to constantly keep repeating the compression process each time trying to fix it when i would only be saving about 40-50 mb so in the end i felt i would cut my losses and just not use oggre on this game.

It's may be no-header WAV, but most likely just vorbis-streams

In it's retail state (just like all other LEGO Games) this game is impossible to compress properly. In order to make a decent conversion, you first need to use QuickBMS on the DAT files to unpack them.

You can download QuickBMS here (https://aluigi.altervista.org/papers/quickbms.zip).

You will also need the TTGames BMS script which you can get here (https://aluigi.altervista.org/bms/ttgames.bms).

Drag the BMS script over the QuickBMS EXE file and select all the DAT files. I like to unpack to a separate folder then merge the files after unpacking, but it's perfectly fine to unpack to the game directory.

After unpacking, move or delete the DAT files since we no longer need them.

Test the game to make sure it still loads correctly, it will load from the raw asssets just like it would from the DAT files.

Total retail size: 7.42GB

Total size after being unpacked using QuickBMS: 12GB

Compress using the following method:

These games get progressively more painful to compress (in order, 1, 2, 3, 4 - 4 is worst!).

You can use QuickBMS to unpack fbq archives but the game does not read from the raw files, and instead searches for the packed fbq. There's not a way I've found that can take an FBQ archive, unpack it, then rebuild.

Game does contain crilayla but the files compress very well under srep etc you only get a 1 to 2 gig size difference wich is really in my opinion not worth the time it takes to decompress

srep+lolz on everything.

Some unity asset bundles (inside StreamingAssets folder) can be compressed using XTool with unity engine plugin. Not all can be, so do check this first.

If there's any Wwise Audio (.wem /.bnk) or fmod banks (.bank) then use rz - I recommend MTX with RZ thanks to BLACKFIRE69. You won't get much compression out of these banks.

Obviously on bigger Unity games like Kerbal Space Program there's a lot more assets which can be compressed in different ways, but srep+lolz is the easiest method for Unity Games.

But that is extracting the audio, and I already knew about that. The point is being able to compress them efficiently - of which I don't think is possible without extensive work since the banks are already compressed.

BTW, no need for any toolbox, can extract fsb from bank using QuickBMS.

you can use a batch(Pack.bat) file or Conversion Example for the compression with DiskSpan instead of UltraArc.... :rolleyes:

Does anyone know of a good method for AO Tennis 2?

The game does not compress very well in it's retail state and doesn't use a common engine like Unreal Engine or Unity.

There's nothing that GFS can detect, so it's unlikely that precompression can be used here.

What do I do when oggre crashes?

Currently I have all of the ogg audio from the LEGO Harry Potter series, but it does not decompress properly, just crashes when attempting to install.

To be clear, there is no foreign stream, only ogg files. I only ever seem to have this issue with some LEGO games. Is there anything I can try to fix it?

This is how I did it .
Download rad tools , check every bk2 file info using it . If you find Alpha Plane = Yes , then seperate those files and don't use bpk on them . Use bpk on rest of the files.

I was wondering if you could use the Project Cars 2 tool on 3, and judging by recent developments it appears it does work. It's also got me thinking if it can work on Automobilista 2, since that uses the encrypted bff data type also.

I tested with this bat file after unpacking the pak file and it appears that the decimal values are all 1 too large.

E.g.

7464214027 7575275053

Should be

7464214027 7575275052

This matches with the start and end of the file in question (1.mov).

The values in the bat are one too large meaning that when you 00 fill the main pak in the specified locations, you will accidentally fill an extra offset for each file, meaning that 11 times a value will be made 00 when it shouldn't.

So if 1.mov ends with: 00 9E 00 4D 00 00 00 3F

And the file pattern goes: 00 9E 00 4D 00 00 00 3F F6

If you use the bat file provided for your values, that F6 value at the end will be filled as 00, leading to a corrupt file.

You don't even need to patch the videos and audio out, you can compress it to about 13.6GB with xtool+srep+lolz anyway.

I don't think so, I have tried to compress with this method but the output size is about 15 GB. Can you share the compression method in more detail, please?

How do you over come the memory allocation error associated with FreeArc lzma? I have attempted to copy your 4x4 argument from previous conversions you posted however it leads to errors, even when I limit the memory using lc and ld command too.

The 7zip xz method leads to decompression error for me too.

I used a similar method to dixen for mine and got slightly smaller since I do not use "fast mode" lolz.

A recent game: Hades: Battle out of Hell also uses Bink videos, but they can't be compressed with bpk either - errors with pack and unpack.

Well I have tested and you can pack them with bpk, but can't unpack because there is an infinite unpack loop. For example, a 500mb bik file will unpack to a few gb if you wait a few minutes.

File headers looks the same for working and non-working bink files.

In the Fitgirl Setup installer resources of the game, there is a file that caught my attention called tiger.exe. I imagine it must be the file that encrypt *.tiger files again after unpacking, but idk how to use it.

yes, xdelta can't check the input file because of the encryption.

What would be the method to compress MudRunner? I can't get a good ratio due to the *.dds files and MSC is not working(on *.dds files) or getting freezed.
I don't know any other tool to compress *.dds files so help me out

Imho its "optimized" by default.You dont have to tweak it. But u can play with the MC switch AFAIK.

UltraARC 2900 R7 FULL (DISK SPAN R3) [2020-06-11].7z in Light Installer Script (LIS) post, I believe is no outdated

Change both -ulv and Input Output to InFile OutFile and nothing, gonna try with the UltraArc in _Tools (2020-07-18) in [CIUv3] post
