Well ofcourse it wouldn't work with other games, you need exact same version of oodle that the game uses.

Note: Even though it appears to not have compressed at all, the difference is in the install time. the original took 10 minutes to install on my quad core laptop but my repack install only took 2-3 minutes at most. So no compression difference but much faster installer time. :)
Repackers comment - Post Script:
Turns out i was wrong. i compared my repack to the original and it is indeed smaller. original size was 1.21 gb, and mine ended up being 1.19 gb. so while not compressed by much, any space saved is better than none :)

**Note: I am changing this post as i have discovered the new tools in the CIUV3 post by Kaktor to be much more efficient than the old method i was using. Ultraarc is no longer needed to compress my games, instead i use the batch script for diskpan. your results may vary and will usullly go a lot slower if you dont use diskspan because UA has to compile all the files and process them before starting to build the archives whereas the newest ciu tools package with diskspan does not. Also please note, do not use msc with Aarklash legacy or else it -will- crash when installing due to the latest msc being unable to unpack .dds and .bmp files. use lolz instead. -Kitsune

*note 2: i recant the statement about using msc with lolz. if you are dealing with .dds files and .bmp files, do -not- use msc or the installer will crash when decompressing due to msc being unable to unpack/extract bmp and dds files! use lolz with srep insread.
note 3: ok, i need to backtrack a bit. msc DOES work on aarklash legacy but dont use it because some of the dds files will end up actually inflating larger than others causing the output files to be much larger. i still suggest using srep with lolz.

*If you all are wondering what I mean by '#-folder' in my compression methods, i will let you all in on a little secret. If you're dealing with
a game with lots of small individual files and/or file types, such as .mov, .bik. mp4, in terms of movies, and files like .cpi from Far Cry, it is a lot more time
effecient to split the game install folder up into individual folders. Like with the game Echo for example, I put all the highly compressable files in one folder and the .mp4 cutscene
videos in a seperate folder. that way when compression time comes around, i can compress the high comp ratio files with one particular compressor and then just do a bare minimum compression on the movie files. your repack results may vary from file type to file type. just thought i'd clear this up and give a bit of insight on how i do things.*

I started it about 30 minutos ago and it's only 4% processed at the moment.
What am I doing wrong?
My CPU is a Ryzen 2600 @4ghz, well cooled. RAM works @3200mhz CL16, if that matters.
Thanks beforehand
oo2reck take some time. It's finished on 10% (like most precompressors), then srep should start.

Does BPK lower video quality on Bik/BK2 files? I can't seem to find a definite answer. It really helps with those file types, but no so if the compresion is lossy. Edit: forgot to mention I'm looking at Ghost Recon Wildlands, devil mentioned that they chose not to use BPK and I was wondering if there was any undesireable effects of using it.
BPK does not lower the quality.
Simple answer: Compare file hashes.

Hello friend, I have whipped this config up for you very quick, so please give a good test :)
All plugins for x86/x64 (+ game engine plugins) are all included.
Compression methods are listed in Arc.ini, use _PACK.ME.bat to pack.
Many thanks to RAZOR19211 for the fantastic tool!

I'm having a small issue when trying to compress Imperator Rome. The assets aren't packed, and most are .dds or .bmp images.
Because of this, I'm using the following method:
srep+lolz/$jpg=packjpg+srep/$mscimg=msc:dxt=1:ddsraw=1:bmp=1:bmf=9+srep+lolz/$binaries=srep+exe2+delta+lolz
With the following "masks" (Is that what you call them - in arc.groups):
$jpg
*.jpg
$mscimg
*.dds
*.bmp
$binaries
*.exe
*.dll
However I always seem to get this error when using MSC:
https://i.ibb.co/Wc5ZZ5w/Captfure.png (https://imgbb.com/)
This happens every time I use MSC and BMF, I can always use TAK without error. I tried dropping lolz and using just msc+srep but still I can't manage to fix this. MSC does report that there was an error creating a .bmf file (temporary file) but I don't know if these two problems are linked. If anyone knows a little bit more about MSC, I'd greatly appreciate some help. Thanks in advance!
Because of this I never use MSC with dds images.

Note, this conversion's file size is slightly bigger due to 2 reasons. first, i was missing some of the core files from the original game so when i added and compressed them, the file went up a bit. second, this conversion installs much faster than my old one. my old one took almost 5-6 minutes on a dual core with 8 gb ram but this one installs in under 1 1/2 minutes! Just thought i'd make a small mention as to why my first post about the compression methods for this game was smaller than my new one :) Also, the increased file size is due to me adding extra autorun/installer images and more backgrounds to my CIU 3.0.0.0u8 project so the installer exe was 10 mb in size which added to the increased file size. the original size was 1.69 gb but then i added in my extras so it got bigger :)

In it's retail state (just like all other LEGO Games) this game is impossible to compress properly. In order to make a decent conversion, you first need to use QuickBMS on the DAT files to unpack them.
You can download QuickBMS here (https://aluigi.altervista.org/papers/quickbms.zip).
You will also need the TTGames BMS script which you can get here (https://aluigi.altervista.org/bms/ttgames.bms).
Drag the BMS script over the QuickBMS EXE file and select all the DAT files. I like to unpack to a separate folder then merge the files after unpacking, but it's perfectly fine to unpack to the game directory.
After unpacking, move or delete the DAT files since we no longer need them.
Test the game to make sure it still loads okay, it will load from the raw asssets just like it would from the DAT files.

I'm taking a look at Terminator Resistance, and however I'm encountering an error.
It's an Unreal Engine game, so i'm using xtool(zlib)+srep+lolz, however I always recieve the Failed CRC check error during unpacking. This always seems to happen when I use XTool, because I can use srep+lolz on their own without issues.
Here's my Arc.ini:
[External compressor:xzlib]
header = 0
packcmd = xtool e:precomp:t100p:zlib - - <stdin> <stdout>
[External compressor:srep]
header = 0
packcmd = srep -m3f -l512 -v2 $$arcdatafile$$.tmp $$arcpackedfile$$.tmp
[External compressor:lolz]
header = 0
packcmd = lolz_x64 -dt -dtb1 -dtw1 -dtm1 -dto1 -dtd1 -mtt1 -mt4 -d64m -fba4096 {options} $$arcdatafile$$.tmp $$arcpackedfile$$.tmp
I'm not sure what could be happening, because other games such as No Mans Sky where xzlib is also useful has the same unpacking error.
I am using XTool 0.12, lolz v22c4b and SREP 3.93 Beta.

Thanks for this, I tried a varitation of commands following your guide which was helpful. I settled on leaving out any extra options and just allowing XTool to do its thing.
Everything works now.
Also, do you know where I could find a complete ZTool config? Would it help in some games vs XTool, or should I always stick to XTool (since it succeeds ZTool)?

Srep+razor : whats the point ? Razor already dedups the data ! Use LOLZ instead of RZ. It compresses much better.
Mp3 : use MPZAPI with PMT. Much faster than MSC.
Use MSC when MP3 files are embedded in other files(stream).
BK2 : some bk2 files cannot be processed as bink with BPK (corrupts the archive). Compress them separately to check things.
Hope this was helpful. :)

Thanks.
I was able to pack them into a archive using binkpack, but the problem is that the ratio is always 100%. I looked through file headers and they are fine. So maybe some special codec or something, if it's even possible with binkvideo.

Good to know I'm not going insane (yet)!
It's strange, because it's the only Saints Row game in the series that uses Bink2 instead of Bink. Maybe that's just because Bink2 wasn't around when the other games were made, but then why not make all of the video Bink2? There's still old Bink files in the game (2 .bik files).

Thank you for the points! I have found that srep+razor yields better results with misc small files and binaries over LOLZ. I don't know if this is true for all games, but I will start to test both srep+rz against srep+lolz.
I'll look into PMT, will it have a major effect on conversion size?

No. I mean compression speed. In my experiences LOLZ pack many same bytes much faster than different bytes.

It's built in unreal engine, so for the Pak file use xtool with zlib codec+srep+lolz then for everything else use srep+lolz.
So:

Hello there, I am currently looking to compress the game "Astroneer". I just wish to see how small I can compress the game.
It is an Unreal Engine game, so I used Masquerade's guidance from the last page for Drug Dealer Simulator however I am wondering if there's any better compression method for mp4 video files? It seems that srep+lolz do not compress these files very well.
This forum has helped me a lot since my first post. Thank you in advance.

It's better to Let alone those.... mp4 file.... just put em with whatever files your compressing with srep+lolz
Also you can reduce them in size by degrading their quality.... Like degrading to 720p from 1080p or higher .And you don't want that right?...
till now I have found no other tool to integrate with mp4 files without degrading their quality

You can use "uelr" to tfc files for precompressing.
arc.ini file:
[External compressor:uelr]
header = 0
default = -uv
packcmd = "uelr_x86" {option} $$arcdatafile$$.tmp $$arcpackedfile$$.tmp
unpackcmd = "uelr_x86" r <stdin> <stdout>
Then srep+lolz.
For mp4 files you can create a batch script and re-encode them with FFmpeg.

The Amazing Spider Man 2 (2014) has a file called Streams2.dat, it's the largest file in the entire game (2,323,030,372 bytes / 2.16GB) and I don't know how to compress it efficiently.
I threw it into RAZOR12911's scanner and this was the result:

Compression time: cpu 2.09 sec/real 50.60 sec = 4%. Speed 45.91 mB/s
All OK
PZLib also had a simlar result at a 100% ratio.
Is there something I'm missing here? There's also lots of WAV streams detected, but I don't know how to focus on them. I tried MSC, but that only found WAV streams of an unknown file type, and did nothing.
I don't think the file could be encrypted because the streams were detected.
If anyone has any tips, they'd be greatly appreciated.

Are you using SREP inside (CLS-SREP.DLL) or [CLS-SREP.DLL + CLS-SREP_X64.EXE, CLS-SREP_X86.EXE] method? Both were uploaded by Profrager on Krinkels.
I use the DLL + EXE method.
I tagged below a copy of srep + srep64 for packing and the cls plugin + 2 exes for unpacking. CLS.ini is also included. Add that into your decompressor and it works just fine.
Edit: I've never used Razor's CLS-SREP. I didn't know that one existed up until about 5 mins ago.

Which version of Oodle should i use?

The version the game use.
Somewhere inside game folder should be an oodle dll file (it contains a number in file name). Use this file to precompress the game with oo2recm.

This game has lots of zlib streams, so I'm using XTool Zlib however it completely crashes my PC.
Please note I have XTool limited to 80% of my CPU threads (using the t80p switch). My CPU is 8 core, 16 thread Ryzen 7 2700.
Here't the versions I've tested:
XTool V12 x64 = Crashes my PC (only way to recover is press physical reset button)
XTool V12 x86 = ERROR: write error (disk full?) in compression algorithm xzlib
I also tried pZlib:
pZlib V3 x86 = ERROR: write error (disk full?) in compression algorithm pZlib
pZlib V3 x64 = ERROR: write error (disk full?) in compression algorithm pZlib64
Please note that I haven't overclocked my CPU or modified anything in a way that could have an adverse effect on CPU heavy tasks, as I had XTool and pZLib working in previous recent conversions.
I am going to try other versions of XTool.
Updated Edit: it appears XTool 2019 x64 is working for me without issues. 1,113,038,020 bytes of game data precompressed into 16,176,946,862 bytes - that's looking good!!

69.546.338.253 > 69,550,517,626
i think it's not. there is almost no lz4 stream.
and final size still high.
upd.
maybe something wrong with my arc.ini, i left packcmd as xtool.exe e : precomp : t4 : zlib, now changed it to e : precomp : t4 : {option} and trying with this method again.

These games already have conversions posted however I'd just like to add my attempt (strongly based on the existing conversions) but with complete info (original / final sizes etc..)

I was wondering if anyone has any good methods for this game?
I have everything sorted except from the .sga files.
I'm using this method for them:
xzlib64+msc:wav=1:raw=1:mp3=1:tak=9+srep+lolz
However during decompression MSC keeps crashing (instantly killing the installer). I know it's an issue with MSC because the temp files are left in the installer temp directory.
I am currently trying running msc before xtool but it's produced a larger result than xtool+msc.
@KaktoR: is there any other tool to recompress embedded audio files??? :-o

Why msc?
The SGA files have sound in them. I might try the MSC binary rather than the cls plugin.
Update: Tried unpacking with the MSC exe file and still no improvement.
Could you send me a sample?
@KaktoR: is there any other tool to recompress embedded audio files??? :-o
Sometimes it's possible to use oggre if ogg files stored in archives (example: Kingdom come audio files).

Total Unpacked Size: 9.4GB
Compression as follows:
The following passage is required in Arc.groups:
$ogg
*.ogg
$wav
*.wav
$bink
*.bik
Compress using the folowing:
srep:m3f:l512:v2+lolz:dt:dtb1:dtw1:dtm1:dto1:dtd1: mtt1:mt4:d64m:fba4096/$wav=msc:wav=1:frog=9+srep:m3f:l512:v2+lolz:dt:dtb 1:dtw1:dtm1:dto1:dtd1:mtt1:mt4:d64m:fba4096/$ogg=oggre/$bink=bpk
I used FROG instead of TAK for MSC because TAK caused a crash. FROG works fine...

Does the fact I made 5 archives (instead of 1) make an issue? I don't have time to make 1 large archive.
I'd appreciate some help.
It is possible that srep could not kill all the duplicates, because you compressed the files separately.
I never knew that! Thanks!
I'm going to make 1 archive for the vpp files which should fix things. I'm worried in case I have such a lomg compression but the archive returns corrupt :(
Edit: I had to limit srep to 64k because default 512 gave me memory allocation crashes. Will this ruin the conversion?

Try without "d1g"... or try "d512m"
Also do you have enough ram left in our rig to pack up things?
AFAIK only Srep393a has the "-d1g" option !
