Instead of just say "wrong", write some more specific to correct me.
Otherwise your comment is not very helpfull and users will come up with many more questions (read the title).
I'm Agree with KaktoR!
i never saw he or She, or who ever he is,
help someone.
So he's just useless to fileforums...
KaktoR bro just ignore people like them..

I have seen it and you help me many times actually i lost count :) how many times you help me...
We can figured it out soon... until then we wait..
anyways i have Compress Far Cry New Down to 24GB
with srep lolz... 17GB off..
^In general FitGirl is very helpfull here, but this time she wasn't unfortunatelly.

These type of comments are not needed.
Like KaktoR said, FitGirl has helped many here on many occasions.

From what I know you can unpack the archives but can't repack them with tools (RE2 works fine with unpacked archives).

Sorry :D
From what I know you can unpack the archives but can't repack them with tools (RE2 works fine with unpacked archives).
So you are saying its impossible...
But fitgirl and corepack are doing that for most of the repacks....
I talked about public tools. I don't know about private tools or techniques.
Go and ask them if you want to know.

I have questions....
How to extract game language files from the game files so that these can be compressed separately...
How to merge these files again during installation...
Separately, the language files are extracted in the data structure of a game, they are compressed in separate archives, each archive for each language pack, at the end the rest of the files of the whole game is compressed.
When you download a game, for example "Topolino", you have the possibility to select and choose which language package you are interested in, except of English which is included in default in the basic archive. Finally, during the installation, will be extracted the complete game (English language) + the language of your have choice.

If I could've asked them then I wouldn't post my query here...
And if it was not possible thru public tools you should have told this instead of asking name of game....

Maybe you should have asked the question correctly and stated how to do when using 'public' tools. ;)
Or ...
When asking your original question you should have said you want to know how to extract and then merge the files like FitGirl or Core do, then KaktoR would have understood exactly what you wanted and could have told you they use 'private tools' instead of asking 'for what game'? :D
Can't blame KaktoR's response to your initial question. ;)

My bad.. i didn't know that it requires any tool at all...
So I asked the correct question that time..
If there is any way to ask fitgirl or corepacks then i didn't post my question here in this forum...
And I am not blaming anybody.. My only point was that the first question he asked "what game" it was not required.. Since it was not possible through any public tool whether I would have added in question "fitgirl or corepacks"...

Every game is different, the question by KaktoR was right, he asked because on many games you can do it with the public tools without any problem but on Resident Evil 2, there are no public working tools. Thats because all language data is stored into a same gamefile on resident evil. On other games you can actually see that language files are separated, for example xxx_spanish.whatever/xxx_english.whatever/etc..., those that have language files in separated files can be made with public tools. The easiest way is to create a folder for each language and copy those files conserving the main game folder structure, then compress each language in a separated bin/arc file. For extracting, it depends on the installer you are using, but in my case im adding them as "Components".
For games like Resident Evil 2 you have to search for tools that can unpack those big files, some games you can use modding tools (like on old Tomb Raiders, Mass Effect 3, etc...), for RE2 there is also a unpacker too.

Well its possible with the public tools but the point is, is it worth it ? Each language is around ~100MB probably as far as I remember (or maybe little larger). For me to write a tutorial on this will require some work as not many people are used to with these kind of methods. I will see what I can do.

It is only for academic purpose...
Just want to learn how can it be done...
If you write a tutorial it would be helpful not only for me but for entire forum...
Thank you...

Which XTOOL Library to use?
Which XTOOL Library to use?
Download Xtool_011
You need this files.
(use x64 version)
arc.exe
arc.ini
xtool.exe
xtool.ini
liblz4.dll
Pack.bat
Srep64.exe
LOLZ.exe
Make sure you have add all dat files to xtool.ini
on Xtool_011 FA_example had all files you need to pack FC NEW DOWN,
If you want do split game to DVD5/9 or BD25 use Diskspan. but you have to replace
xtool.exe and xtool.ini from xtool_011 cause it made for FC New Down.
I Recommend you to Use Diskspan with latest Xtool.exe and xtool.ini

Thank you very much, you mean i should be using lz4 library? cause it didn't precompress anything although xtool.ini is filled properly and the path in basedir is correct.
Thank you very much, you mean i should be using lz4 library right?
yes, use xtool_011, lz4 dll with xtool.exe otherwise it won't work. Keep in mind you can't just use xtool on them you need to put all lz4 dat files in to xtool.ini..
lz4 dat file means some dat files don't have any streams, like HD, so you have to check dat file one by one to get to know which dat files had the streams..

Oky then.. I didn't try, so i don't know. Before you start make sure all files in place.. On XT.ini Then start..
This worked for me (change your language in xtool.ini (language inflate only to 103%))
Here are all files which contain lz4 streams

Maybe you have to use only listed files in xtool.ini in directory (I don't know if it still works if you have other files in pack folder like exe etc) I have only tested with listed files (dat+fat) in their respective folder structure.

On xtool arc.ini = c32mb,t75p:zlib
zstdrec+xZlib+srep:m3f+lolz:dtb1:d128m:mtt1:mt4
Also You can use d192m and mc1023 and m5f to get better ratio.. if you have 8 threads or 16T cpu change
mt4 to 8 or 16.. It will speed up the process..

What's wrong?
Use zstdrec+xtool+srep+lolz
Don't use xtool+zstdrec
I get 51GB ratio like 176%!
if you use xtool+zstdrec, ratio going to be low, like 172%
I have test it,
that's why i know.
To your problem,
Download xtool_11 and zstdrec, then combine them
And edit pack.bat and add zstdrec+xtool to - m method.
Do you know right?
Then test only that big pak file. Youll get 51.065MB
zlib use c32mb chunk.

If you have *C* version then try edition game ini file and remove that Live Action DLC from dlcs list.
but i only remove the folder that's all game work perfectly..
i've already done that
i've already done that
It's only work with C Ver,
Legit Ver can't,

Thank you Mausschieber for working my request.
Compress using srep & lolz get 6x dvd5
Test install & play work perfect:D
I am using below settings in arc.ini. can you check whether setting are correct?
[External compressor:xlz4]
header = 0
packcmd = xtool e:precomp:c128m,t8:lz4 $$arcdatafile$$.tmp $$arcpackedfile$$.tmp
unpackcmd = xtool d:precomp:t100p - - <stdin> <stdout>
if these setting are correct, still files are not getting inflate..
^ Read my post more carefully.
I used lz4 for precompression. And I said that the difference is not that big (~500mb) and that ratio for xtool was about ~160%.

My only concern is that I am using lz4 for precompression but the ratio is 100% not 160% as you mentioned. So I am wondering what's going wrong?
And I asked the same thing in my earlier post...

Check if liblz4.dll is present and loaded by xtool. If not, put the one with the correct architecture.

Sekiro Shadows Die Twice:
Break Game into 3 Section:
Section 1:
Videos: BPK
openingmovie.bk2 copy this file one more time and rename it to "openingmovie_hi.bk2"
stafflistmovie.bk2 use my BINK encoder to encode the first 6~7 Megabytes
This will result into popping the First 2 3 seconds in the end with Sekiro Display :D
End file = 221.mb
Section 2:
Audio and Executables use this:
7Zip_Shelwien Bat
You end up with 564MB file.
Section 3:
Game files:
arc\Arc a -ma9 -ds -lc4096 -ld4096 -di -i1 -ep1 -ed -r -w.\ Setup-3.xarc ^
-mpoodle+srep:m3f:a2:l256+lolzi:d128m:mt2:ldmf1:ldc 0:mc1023:mtb64:x0 "D:\Games\Sekiro Shadows Die Twice\3\*"
End File=7.95GB
Total: 8.72 GB
You can do a bit more if you absolutely MUST
Use Bink2 encoder, to lower 720p the videos,
Use higher and single thread lolz to squeeze a few more MB

Majority of the files are packed using lz4hc for which no public precompressors exist.

Yasitha, lz4HC only works this way, find a way to unpack game files manually by searching the net for tools, find what method was used to actually compress the game
lz4hc -12 -B7 or lz4hc -11 -B7
then pack the game with that same method and run a xdelta to check for differences :D

Try to remove the "pack" from xtool.ini, then point to game directory.
I have copied all the files (dat + fat) which contains lz4hc to a temp folder and point the pack.bat to this pack folder and it worked well.

Hi all, just wanted to post a brief comment about the old XT.exe b in the _Tools (2019-01-22).7z vs the one in _Tools (2019-03-28).7z, XT.exe
I experimented a little bit on some test files and this is what i discovered.
The game I compressed, Agarest Generations of War took 30 minutes to decompress on a dual core AMD cpu with 8 gb ram and 4 gb vram/1 gb dedicated video. while this might sound normal, i found out something interesting.
the original compression method i used with UltraArc 2900 R6 Full/_Diskpan.bat folder from the Tools (2019-01-22).7z for the second and third set of .bra files was xZ1+srep:m5f+msc+lolz:d256m:mc1023. for the 1st folder which was all videos i just used srep:m5f+LZMA. the third set of files i used the same method as the second set, and the total decompression time was 30 minutes using the old XT/xtool from that package i specified above.
now heres the interesting part. i downloaded and extracted the compression tools from kaktors _Tools (2019-03-28).7z file on his CIUV3 thread, and copy/pasted the largest .bra file which just has .ogg music files stored in it to a seperate test folder, and after modifiying my ciuv3 script a bit to just process the test.bin.001 file i made with diskspan, i recreated the same installer with just the one fille then ran the setup again. this time the installer unpacked the data from that new text .bin file in 1 minute!! the same file that it got stuck on for like 15 minutes from my first compression test unpacked in only one minute. :O the only change i made to the fa.ini script in the ultraarc 2900 r5 FULL/resources directory was changing the decomp setting under xzlib from 100p to t40.
what i dont understand is that i did the same experiment with the compression using the same settings with the old xtool program from the older _tools archive from 1-2019 and it was 3x longer, it took 30 min to install the game where just the newe one unpacked almost a gb of data in under a minute, and on a dual core desktop to boot. moreover when i was on my quad core laptop with 8 gb ram and a 4 gb vram integrated video card, the decompression took about 8 minutes less but it still was almost 20 nin to fully install a 4.7 gb game.
as a final comment, i did use lolz to compress the .bra files along with cxlib but even the lolz compressor processed quickly, it wasnt until the old xtool started prcoessing the last of the files that it hung for like 15 min on a 90 mb file.
needless to same, im pleased with the speed increase. any thoughts or ideas about why an older one was slower than the newer one? only thing that comes to mind is the xtool in the new package was a 64 bit version and the older one was 32 bit. let me know what you all think.

Addendum Note - 4/11/19
Ok, i tried another experiment. i repacked the game's .bra files that had been giving me trouble
with the new tools using the default settings UltraArc r2900 Full's diskspan folder has, and let it compress. it took a bout an hour or so, i dont reallyknow how long because i started the compression then went to sleep. when i woke up, i edited the setup.ini file in the ciuv3 folder and attempted to reinstall
the game again. this time the whole game took 10 minutes to decompress!!! So for whatever reason, it seems the updated XT.exe file in the recent tools package
Kaktor put together is much faster and more stable than the old one. this is the method i used.
XZ1+srep:m5f+msc+lolz:d512m:mc1023, and left packcmd at t75p and chunk size at 32mb. I have confirmed the newer one works faster and doesnt freeze up slower computers
as much for some reason. In any case, I know which one im using now. leave any feedback below this post.
thanks, have a good one.

"they couldnt hit an elephant at this dis---" famous last words of general custer from custer's last stand during the civil war.
guess those musket rifles can hit even an elephant at that distance. :p
This is not surprising.
Packing a file, which contains only audio (ogg) files with XTool doesn't make sense. XTool has nothing to work during unpacking audio files (recompression) because XTool had nothing to work on precompression, and therefore it is fast.
You should test your theories with zips, png, pdf or other files which contains streams (as large as possible) to get a accurate time.

Hi Kaktor. I forgot to mention I also used this same method on the other files which contain data and dds texture as well as other assets such as text, models and so on. the ogg file test was simply that. just a test to see how fast it would extract. after applying the recompression to the other files, the game installed much faster than before. before the whole game took 30 min to install, and after i recompressed the .bra files which contain data textures and other assets with lolz and msc which can compress dds wav and mp3 files, then recompiled the installer, the game installed completely in 10 minutes. just thought i would mention that.

I will test bpk+lolz but I can't imagine there should be any benefit from it.
oggre:dd is even bigger output (without dd option it is smaller).
What is lepton actually?
I don't like to use MSC too much (only use for wav and bmp files actually).
I tested further with mpz and with srep before mpz it is even smaller output with MD5 perfect after unpacking + it made the archive solid (mpz can't made archive solid for some reason (packmp3 is not compatible with srep for some reason)). I made some comparisons.
mpz
Compressed 54 files, 276,552,632 => 234,232,753 bytes. Ratio 84.70%
Compression time: cpu 0.47 sec/real 129.96 sec = 0%. Speed 2.13 mB/s
All OK
srep+mpz
Compressed 54 files, 276,552,632 => 182,162,764 bytes. Ratio 65.87%
Compression time: cpu 0.30 sec/real 109.99 sec = 0%. Speed 2.51 mB/s
All OK
mpz+srep
Compressed 54 files, 276,552,632 => 234,237,165 bytes. Ratio 84.70%
Compression time: cpu 0.66 sec/real 172.05 sec = 0%. Speed 1.61 mB/s
All OK
I will test a bit more.
I will test bpk+lolz but I can't imagine there should be any benefit from it.
Considering you mention srep not improving compression, this might be one of those cases that lolz:ldmf1 or RAZOR won't do much.
oggre:dd is even bigger output (without dd option it is smaller).
Same as above then.
What is lepton actually?
Lepton (https://blogs.dropbox.com/tech/2016/07/lepton-image-compression-saving-22-losslessly-from-images-at-15mbs/). You can get it from Panker's Masked Compression v3.0.
If i remember correctly, srep+msc:mp32 can give ratios closer or superior in some cases to mpz, only drawback is that raw1 is disabled. Regarding BMP compression, i think lolz performs better than packBMF, might be wrong though.

Anyone knows how to best compress flac audio files?
Only to lossy formats. FLACs are lossless, but well compressed. If transcoded losslessly to some other format like OptimFROG, you won't get much benefit, but decompression speed will suffer a lot.

LZMA vs LOLZ & Scan Compress Method (https://fileforums.com/showpost.php?p=478569&postcount=53)
SAO FB Fitgirl (http://fitgirl-repacks.site/sword-art-online-fatal-bullet/) version of the REP was not used because the amount of RAM in the SREP was about 7 GB.
But with this method xZLib + rep + srep + lolz
The amount of RAM used by SREP was only 2.4 GB.

KaktoR, how about installation time compared to AFR on Origins and Odyssey? I remember that it was a bit slow on Origins (gold edition) and also cpu usage was like using Prime95 to test OC haha.
I have seen that a lot of you guys have been active lately in sharing methods, so I have decided to spice things up a bit :P but also thank you a little bit :)
So in the next 7 days whoever shares the most compression methods will get a steam key of a random game as a small thank you reward.

Installation time is basically the same. The only disadvantage AFR has is that the temp files will be very big (game size * 2 at least) because it has no stdin support for compression (unlike oo2recX, which has stdin support), means same less hdd load. Oh and the big advantage oo2recX has, that you can practically compress the whole game at once in one go (AFR can only process forge files, so you have to split the files in file types or use masking, with oo2recX you don't need to do this, like with XTool).

Thats really nice, specially when you have to install it on a SSD which usually are smaller. I didnt compress anything for various months because i was a bit busy with work, i will check out the new tools (my xtool is still on v0.9) and set up the configs (hope i still remember how to do all stuff haha). Will do Odyssey and Origins too but with Lolz as always. I didnt updated Odyssey to 1.4.0 yet, waiting for Monday for the last episode of Fate of Atlantis, still the last update is big as hell.
Thanks KaktoR !!!

Hi guys, Im very new here and I started to have a little interest in learning about compression. Reason, my games are too big for my computers and I wish to store for winter use (bad joke i know).
I saw this post about what is the best method to compress certain games. Hence, I would like to know what software did you guys use to proceed with the compression.
P.S: I don't mind getting my butt hurt for being a poor sport of lacking any knowledge in this. However, I hope to have an answer :)
For starting you can use UltraArc. Grab it from the tools archive here: https://fileforums.com/showthread.php?t=102510
Inside the tools archive you will find more usefull tools, for example the game file scanners.

Firstly thanks for the reply KaktoR,
I am currently trying UltraARC and just curious on the estimated time in the following scenario below:
File - Games
Sizes - 15GB - 30GB
Compressed Sizes - 10GB - 20GB
If there any lack of details, do let me know I will provide more :p
PS. it doesnt have to be accurate, I am just curious :D
It all depends on method you use and the files.

Hello KaktoR,
Ok I'm waiting for your answer!
About your compression method for Age of Empires Definitive Edition
What are the files for Data1 & Data2, please?
Thanks in advance
Data1: mp3, wav
Data2: all other
In folder Assets\SLP\ there are many x1, x2 and x4 files (probably for texture size/resolution). Maybe you can delete them to save some more space (make backup).

Hello KaktoR,
Thank you for your reply.
Also thank you for seeing the problem for the game Age of Wonders Planetfall when you have time.
Best regards
I got the same error. On CIU it works.
I will look at it later (I didn't worked on ASIS for months now).
I don't know if it's a compressor or code error.

-map 0:#
1 for English, 4 for German. I don't know what other number is for which language. Use MPC and change audio track to listen.
-map 0:0 is the main audio track (non-voice). Do not remove this!
First -map 0:0 tells ffmpreg to not touch non-voice track (main audio like sounds and stuff)
Second -map =:# tells ffmpeg to not touch selected voice audio track
In the above example ffmpeg removes all audio tracks with the exception of 0 (main audio track) and 4 (german audio track)
-acodec copy tells ffmpeg to copy audio source (it doesn't change stuff like bitrate, hz, etc.
-vcodec copy is the same for video source
If you want to leave 2 voice languages, for example english and german, add a third -map option
ffmpeg -i "C_Spyro03_TheEscapeOutro.mp4" -map 0:0 -map 0:1 -map 0:4 -acodec copy -vcodec copy "Processed\C_Spyro03_TheEscapeOutro.mp4"

Gears 5 have ooddle [2] = Mermaid/Selkie/Hydra streams, with oodle final size could be better. I think this methods not the best and almost useless.

Thanks Man For Your Steps But Your Script dont work i try this and work
Hi. Yes with that we can extract every pak file of the game... but what we must use to re-create the pak files? I have used an old version of UnrealPak.exe but the game doesn't work. Someone has a tool to share, that works perfectly with this game, to re-create the pak files? Thanks.

i removed 4X4 from the arc ini from fazip so it made ot launch 2 independant threads speeding it up
50 minute decompress
Size after with gallery videos 39 gb
35 minute decompress
size after without gallery videos 28 gb
===========note
to extract use the .bms labeled Tekken 7 its been alterd for this game it ignores encryption
to pack back up use the .bat file UnrealPak-Without-Compression.. the files do not decompress so...
i recommend renaming the folders extracted in to the corresponding files name without the .pak on the end..
drag each folder 1 by 1 into UnrealPak-Without-Compression from the Unreal Pack folder i have provided and it packs them back up..
you can do them all at once just make sure you drag them to the .bat 1 by 1 it takes me about 25 minutes to pack them pack up the tool also puts .pak back at the end of the file and its ready to go right away
