Shenmue 2 self rip

I've seen that Darkfalz made a working copy of Shenmue 2. I want to make a 90 min version of this game to rip less .ahx audio files.

But i'm unable to create a correct image that can be burned to reach the 45000 lba.

Darkfalz can you help me ?

From megagames.com DC patches ( http://server1.megagames.com/dc/dc_patches_a.shtml ) download the Alone in the Dark fix, and you will find a blank image file to burn a valid 45000 LBA session.

I hope it helps!

I've found an other way to do this :
- Create a session with DATA from the game to reach 45000 LBA (I"ve used UltraISO, the Windows calcuator, and some CD-RW)
- merge the data of first session with a mkisofs image of the rest of the game
- inject ip.bin

And it boots !

Removed lots of AHX audio files from FREE01.AFS, but not all, like an other group...

AFS had to be compacted with Darkfalz's Tool.

I think we can make a 99 minutes version with ALL audio.

May be we can downsample AHX files but, i"ve never seen a tool can do that

My Shenmue II rip was a lot of work.

First, I made a patcher for the FREE AFS files to only rip out as many as needed. I also retained small text files in there that contain information for Ryo.

I used data in the first session and imported it into the second session, this really not easy to do but was necessary for the maximum fit. I even preserved the sort order across two sessions! Wow.

It's really a difficult task. Certainlly with 99 min CDs could probably fit nearly all the speech, but who cares, can just play my original if that's so important.

@darkfalz: so your game was a audio/data image then? how did you create two sessions? and how did you preserve the sort order?

data/data multisession. Preserving a sort with a -sorttxt is easy enough, but across two sessions is a lot more work.

sounds pretty much like the backup a certain release group succeeded to do, too well, except for the maximum size...which is kinda essential with that game

btw, i realized that you wrote cdda patcher. would you mind taking a look at this thread: http://fileforums.com/showthread.php?t=80852

since you already meddled with hexediting the sound-code in boot-bins, i think you're one of the few competent on that subject, so i would be glad if you could help me

That other release group ripped out much more speech than is necessary, and multilanguage files that weren't necessary, and important info for Ryo during discovery scenes. I don't know how to relink or remap audio tracks.
