Unhappy Any ideas please !!

Hi

I have a 2 CD set of engineering applications that was purchased in the middle east. Max Engineering Pro Series.

This is what CloneCD says :

Info on inserted Disc:
Number of sessions: 1
CD contains CD-Text: No
Size used on Disc: 818537 kBytes
Sectors: 356370
Time: 79:11:45 (Min:Sec:Fra)

Info on Session 1:
Size used in Session: 818537 kBytes
Number of Tracks: 6
Pregap: Data Mode 1, Size: 816573 kBytes
Track 1: Data Mode 1, Size: 422 kBytes
Track 2: Data, Size: 2 kBytes
Track 3: Audio, Size: 16 kBytes
Track 4: Data, Size: 762 kBytes
Track 5: Data Mode 2, Size: 757 kBytes
Track 6: Data, Size: 2 kBytes

However CloneCD does not seem to be able to read the disk. There is only 11 files, all in the root dir of the CD. The main compressed data file is 670MB. There is also 2 tmp files of the same size. IsoBuster shows the tmp files at the same sector as the main data file, 1755. IsoBuster will allow me to extract all files except the three 670MB ones.

ClonyXXL says the CD contains Safedisc2. CD Protection Scout also says SD2 plus oversize, dummy files, data errors, sector errors and invalid track length and invalid TOC. Both CD's also have a visible ring approx 2mm in from the center. The ring on one CD is about 2mm wide the other 3mm wide.

Any ideas on how to backup these CD's would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Puppetman..

Don't use Clonecd, get Alcohol120%.
Clonyxxl and CD Protection Scout are as old as the hills and can only detect protections of the same age.
Use Protection id or A-ray scanner to correctly detect the protection used.

Angry Still no luck.

The disks are engineering applications not game CD's.

I tried different CloneCD profiles all to no avail. It doesn't seem to matter what profile is used, CloneCD reads a small part of the disk and then writes the image all in less than 30 seconds. Obviously not a real disk image.

By the way my cd-rw is a Lite-On LTR12102B 12x10x40.

I also tried settings from Alcohol120% but that does exactly the same as CloneCD.

The best dump success was with DDump which seemed to at least read the entire disk. However when the image was burnt the disk was unreadable. IsoBuster said the PVC header was corrupt.

I seem to be running out of options.

Cheers..

Sounds like the disc is damaged or scratched

This is what it sounds like to me as well. If it is indeed scratched, try using a car buffer with a small dab of car polish or toothpaste. This method will do the trick for scratches. If it is damaged however, you may not be able to back it up.

Not Scratched

Hi Guys

Both disks are in excellent condition.

They also both perform the same when trying to be copied. Surely this is no coincidence ?

Puppetman.

Hmmm...no hidden directories on disc(s)? Those rings sounds a bit like those Settlers3 used (Vob protectcd) or maybe laserlok? Give protectionID or A-Ray scanner a try
