Question Layer Cake UK Pal

I have been reading the thread about Gothika and The Missing.

It seems that Layer Cake has similar protection, I have the latest versions of Any DVD and Decrypter but neither work.

Anyone got any ideas or had similar experiences with this disc.

I backed this up today with no problem, i removed the menu as it only has the film on anyway so goes straight into film after the intro, using clonedvd2. Have watched it all the way through has no hanging or black screens. Also have done Gothika and The Missing with dvddecrypter no problem once i had updated software

The latest version of AnyDVD 4.6.1.2, which just came out a couple days ago does take care of the Layer Cake issue. Still to me AnyDVD is much quicker than Vobblanker. Its one whole less process I have to run since ANYDvd works in the background. Either way though, both methods work fine and Layer Cake turned out well for me.

Well before that version of Anydvd came out I had to suggest VobBlanker. I know its one more process but when new versions of Arccos arive and you dont wanna wait for an updated Anydvd just use VobBlanker.

You are exactly right Tyler. I have noticed Slysoft is about a week or so behind in the work arounds for the new protections. VOBblanker has proven to be a stable and trustwory application. Like I said, I use both. In the new version of AnyDVD they also mentioned a new protection that appearedon Simpons seasons 3 and 5 DVD. Interting to know if this will become more widespread.

Cool Layer Cake and The Missing

I haven't tried Layer Cake or The Missing yet, but I made a back-up copy of Gothika with the latest DVD43 and DVD Shrink 3.2. Sometimes if I am having trouble I use DVD Decryptor and it usually does the job (although I don't like using it--it takes forever!) I have noticed that freeware programs like DVD 43 and DVD Shrink are about a month or two behind programs like Any DVD, Clone DVD 2, and VOBBlanker. I'll let you know what happens with Layer Cake and The Missing after I try them. As always, thanks for the input.
