Is the Ps2 game Black on dual layer DVD?

I was searching around to find out if the game Black is on dual layer dvd because my Ps2 has problems with this media. Seems like a good idea to know first before buying any game on dual layer DVD.

Pity it doesnt say dual layer DVD on the cases. Does anyone know if this game is on dual layer media , also are there any sites out there that have info on dual layer games being released? Just wondered , it would be nice to know in advance before taking a chance buying something that isnt going to work , most shops may not take the game back if its your machine that wont play it etc...

This happened to me once before with God of War , although i rented that so i was able to change it for another game. You only find out when the Ps2 refuses to play it , ah must be dual layer DVD, put it in the pc to check and of course it turned out to be dual layer.

Hopefully Black isnt , looks like a good game.

Ok....

I've been drinking...... BUT.....

IF.... you buy the game..... What difference would it make if it dual layer or not......

Your PS2 has a problem with "stamped" dual layer discs???

If so.... Its time to clean the laser or start looking for a new PS2.....

Not trying to be an ass.... But if it (your PS2) has trouble reading the disc (especially if its a new disc), you need to be looking for a replacement PS2 (or laser) or at least clean the laser with a cleaning disc... Or before long you will be sitting around with a PS2 that wont play anything......

If your talking about a "backup" of a dual layer disc....???

Thats a entirely different ballgame......

Could be "cheap" media.... A weak laser.... A dirty laser.... A problem with your burning.... etc....

Also.... If for some reason your playing it off of the hdd..... You need to use Mode 3.....

What about The Godfather (Der Pate,...whatever you call it) for PS2? Is it on a Double-Layer DVD?

Why dont you download Dvddecrypter, install it, then load the original game into your drive and select ISO read. It will tell you if its dual or single layer.

i can understand his concerns. my ps2 (v3) has big problems with streaming games and problems with dual layer dvd's. the laser is the cheapest sony could get - i think....
i replaced it 2 and a half year ago - but kow the laser doesn't read any dvd's anymore. the weird thing is that i am using a HDD with my ps2 since more than 18 month right now - and the laser doesn't need to read any discs while i am playing.... but it got borken again. i cleaned the laser and the ps2 inside several times but it had only little effect for a short period of time.

i got a little bit pissed off with that laser issue and i am not willing to spend another 69 euros for a 3rd LASER....

at least i am happy that the laser can read CD's so i can use an exploit to start the hdd..... and my pc has usb2 so i can easily install games via winhiip.....

i can admit warlock: to know which type of media the game uses - take dvd decrypter to find out....

by the way: Der Pate - aka GODFATHER is on a single layer dvd.....

Thanks for the replies.

Yeah i know how to check if its dual layer by putting it into the computer and looking at the size , the only annoying thing is you only know its dual layer when you have bought the game and check it on your computer.
Ive heard alot of the older PS2s before a certain version can have problems with dual layer games (original and copied).

Doesnt seem like there are many dual layer games around , so if your machine has issues with them u can only hope u dont happen to buy one and find out it wont play.

Is there any site at all that provides information on games being released on dual layer so that people can look it up in advance?
Nice idea but probably no one would bother making a list if there are only a few around.
