Install question RSOD with dms4 lite

I've modded a v7 with dms4 lite. Ps2 powers on. It will open and close fine. I put in a disc and it goes to browser then for a brief moment I see the blue disc (cd) and then it goes to rsod. I counted wires that I have installed and it's 20. Did I miss installing a wire? I have tried to flash the chip but I can't get past rsod. Laser was working before install. It just seems like I'm so close but just can't figure out what's going on. The connections look fine. I can't see that any are bridged. I'm fairly certain I didn't fry the motherboard-since I doubt I would get to the browser screen if it was fried. Any ideas? Thanks. Cheryl

Oops-I found one mistake myself

Ok I did this late last night but I still feel pretty stupid for this one. I see I soldered the points for version 8-as I printed off the wrong page. I only need 2 wires soldered to the back side of a v7. Looks like I get to take apart again but at least I know what I'm looking for.

V7 Dms 4 Lite install

I have also installed a DMS4 Lite in a V7 PS2. 17 wires. I get the same result you do. I try to flash the bios (toxic 1.1) and only get RSOD. I have tried burning the flash with Decrypter and Nero, and also with Alcohol 120 with no luck. Where did you install your chip on the MainBoard? I put mine on the far right in the "blanK" area. I'm going to try and move the chip closer to the bios on the Mainboard and shorten my wires. I've heard the chip to be sensitive to long wires.

I can get originals to play about 1 out of 10 attempts as it is now. Most of the time I get a black screen while trying to load originals. I have checked and rechecked all solder joints and everything looks good. I have checked continuety on all points and everthing checks out.

Is there an alternate place to solder the Power wire? I'm using the suggested place off diagrams from the DMS4 web site.

I have seen some of Spedmetals installs in this forum and he has installed the DMS 3 in the same spot I have my DMS 4 (on the far right). I don't know for sure if there is a big difference between the sensitivity of long wires in the two chips. Spedmetal has also installed the chip close to bios too. So I'm confused where to place my chip.

Any help is appreciated!!!

The DMS4 line of chips are so large it makes it hard finding a good place to put the chip. I havent tried to put a DMS4 in a V7 yet but this is how I did a V5 not to long ago.

Also if you look at the DMS forums you will see that many people for some reason are having trouble with the DMS4 in a V5 and V7 console. In fact the picture linked to above I have a hell of a time with. I finally got it working but only after moveing it to that position, but it still gave me random black screen when booting from standby!!! By the way the supposed "Experts" at the DMS forums havent addressed this issue so good luck in determining what it is.

I'm going to move my chip to a similiar location that you have on the V5. I have been to the DMS forums and all I got was disappointment. I'm here now in new hopes of expert help. I got the toxic bios 1.0 to come up 1 time but it came into errors in the middle of installation. I can't get toxic bios 1.1 to even show up for the life of me. Which bios did you install on yours?

I hope this problem gets figured out soon or I may have a new matrix infinity in the mail and a "slightly used" DMS4 Lite up for sale.

V7 problems RSOD

My v7 install of dms4 lite was nothing but problems. Eventually I had to mail my deck off to divineo in france. Dms doesn't know what is going on yet if it is bad chips, bad install or anything else. I did notice they had some points were labeled wrong on some of the other version diagrams. You may want to check the area c on the motherboard. Make sure you are not using the jap ps2 diagrams for area c. I don't think you need to bother with putting point T in since that would be for rewritable media only. Beyond that keep moving wires and chip around until you get it. Personally if I were you-just get your money back and get matrix infinity. Filterx is the only one from team dms that may ever respond and personally I think he can be a jerk. I had no idea about all the problems with team dms until after I got the chip and posted this thread. Now it all makes sense what was being said about team dms and why they are not supported on this and many other forums. I must say though I was more than adequately compensated for the deck I mailed out to france. But I think I just got lucky.Oh yes and I would like to add that Filterx sent me a private message saying not to post anymore about all the problems I had with dms4 lite on my v7. He came off sounding like it was a threat but stopped just short of saying what he would do if I posted it again. Hmm, threats, sound familiar anybody?
