Dual layer DVD burner questions.

What advantages does a Dual layer DVD burner have over a single layer? Is the blank media quite a bit more pricey? Can you put 2 full legth movies on a disc, 1 on each side, using a program like DVD shrink? Will a regular home DVD player read both sides, one at a time ofcoarse or is the media unreadable by many home players?

Is Lite-on an O.K. brand, or is it too early to tell whats good and whats crap yet?

You can copy an entire DVD movie onto a single dual layer disk rather have to span it across two disk or strip it of content or compress it. Also, you can back up to 8+GB of data...

Yes. $10USD each but it will go down within the next year or so.

Good question. Not sure, it depends on the software support. The problem I forsee is with the menu, or links to the VOB files, if they are from different movies, how will they be launched (menu)? And will DVDshrink force the second movie to start automatically after the first one?

If you are talking about one movie with multiple VOB files written to both layers, yes because that is exactly what the DVD movies you are now buying are. If you mean two different movies with their own menus on each layer, or to be played sequentially, not sure.
