Backup Problem with Magic 3 and V7
Hi, I would like to know how come my backup does not work. I am using a magic 3.1 mod chip and I have a version 7 ps2. I am using a Lite-On burner 851s. I tried verbatim, tdk, memorex, and ritek. I tried a lot of different softwares like alcohol 120, RecordNow Max, and Nero. When I insert my backup, my ps2 would make wierd ticking noises. My original works fine but I don't know how come none of my backup would work. I tried to burn it at 1x but it still does not work. Plz help.

You must be secure that your modchip is correctly installed, then try this site:

Odds are you have a bad install or a bad laser. The clicking you are hearing is the laser trying to focus on the media. Try loading a dvd movie with the chip disabled.also be sure to update your firmware to DR8GSOH. www.liteonit.com

When I insert my dvd disk when the mod chip is on, I get the red screen. When I insert my dvd disk when the mod chip is off, it plays the movie. I upgraded my firmware to GS0H and my burns still don't work. The original disk works perfectly. I used Ritek G03 dvd-r blanks. I know my mod chip works since it plays my ps1 back up without any problem (my Final Fantasy 9 backup). When I try my ps2 backup (takes forever), I get the playstation 2 logo and then, it dies (some blank black screen or the red screen). I am testing with my Batman Rise of Sin Tzu and Transformers original disk. If I can reprogram my mod chip, how do I do it?

You sure you can update a Magic 3? I never heard you could, but of course, I could be wrong. However, I don't believe I saw anything about it here???

What zanna86 has suggested is all very feasible but only really practicable if your a hard core modder. It sounds like the problem is for sure an install issue. If you didn’t do the install yourself take it back to your installer and show him your problem.

The link has been updated...it isn't difficult if you have an sx programmer....
[in the link, write in red: wire to cut] Ice man, follow the advice of spedmetal:take it back to your installer and show him your problem |

Cool, I found a way to back up my ps2 games. I tried a verbatim dvd-rw and it boot up properly (boot up every time without that annoying clicking noise). I used DVD Decrypter and I managed to back up my ps2 game. Thx for the help. I also found out a way to boot up Onimusha Blade Warrior with my magic 3 mod chip. When you see the Capcom logo, just push eject for 2 sec, and push eject again. Hope that helps you guys who have problems booting up Blade Warrior.
