VCD to DVD

Although I think I know what answer I might get, I thought there's no harm in asking those that know.

Is there a program that can not only convert vcd/mpeg/avi etc to dvd, but improves the picture quality as well?

I have a concert vcd that is pixellated in parts and it would be fantastic if I could improve the quality a little in the conversion.

Have I got any hope?

Nothing will improve the quality of your vcd/mpeg/avi etc when converting to dvd. Because you perminantly loose it when you shrink the images to that size in the first place.

Thanks guys.

I was sort of hoping that shrinking a dvd down to vcd was a bit like an mp3 for music. Quality not quite as good, but you can convert it back and it's almost in its original state.

Guess not.

Any other ideas would be appreciated.
