Burn PS2 CD's-no mod

yes, I did a search for this, but didnt find exactly what i want (i looked for an hour or so). I have an un-modded V3 PS2 and I use an AR2 to play, so far, just emulators. Is it possible to play backed-up CD-based PS2 games? If so...what are the steps to back it up (this is the part I've had trouble finding)

Yes you can play backups without a mod. Do a search on knife. This method is not recommended though, as it f*cks up your ps2. To backup cd based games look in the backup procedures sticky and check out the CloneCD tutorial.

And regardless no, if you just copied the game files to your hard disk you can't burn it back, even with a MOD chip. Sorry, there's more on a PSX/PS2 disc than just the DOS-mode files.
