Plextor 24/10/40a and SafeDisk 2 Pobs.

I just bought a Plextor 24/10/40A with firmware 1.02.
As far as I've read the writer ist suppost to burn "perfect" SafeDisk 2 copys.
I tried to burn a backup of Civ III using CloneCD v3.2.1.1. The copy runs perfect in every CDRom exept the burner itself. I've read that's possible, that the copy works only in the burner, but I've never read, that the copy worked fine except for the burner.
Someone else has had the same problem or has any suggestions?

Yep, this cd-r makes "perfectly" backups of most known protections and safedisc v2 and securom is included...and it works on every cd-rom/dvd-rom.
Now either safedisc or securom includes atip copy protections......this means that your copy will run on every cd/dvd-rom but not in any cd-r units

Hope i helped you!

Yep.

Safedisc2 latest versions and Securom2 check to see if the cd is a cdr or pressed silver by looking for a cdr's ATIP portion.
Only CD burners can provide this info, so either run from a cdrom/dvdrom, or install daemon tools (or the latest CloneCD version) to stop this check.

Seriously? So that's the solution then: I should be running Diablo2 etc. from a normal cd rom drive and not my cdr?

It should make a difference as long as your copy has sub-channel data on it.
Install daemon tools as this will hide your cdr media as well.

Did you tick always close last session?

The problem has nothing to do with that. If he hadn't closed last seesion, it wouldn't work at all.

The problem is the cdr media check (aka ATIP) done by later versions of sd2. Hence it works in cdroms, but not burners.

installing daemon tools would actually be bad, as many programs are starting to blacklist it. it would be far better to simply use the later versions of clonecd and click its very own hide cd-r media option. diablo2 is securom (2?).

Because it hid your cdr media, just like daemon tools.

As far as the blacklisting goes, you're right, but don't forget that DT is the only emulator at the mo which is constantly updated by it's creators in order to address these annoying sd2 traits.
