oh, im sure such a person (or persons) exists, well and you don't need to undo the punkbuster check, just rename the exe as its running and copy in the virgin would do the trick
... you get the idea anyway, though it'd be a lot of effort for just one game (unless its generic of course)... and you'll get lots of whiney gits demanding (!) an update as/when the next update for the game comes along... so, as one individual who could do it, i simply wouldn't because 99.9% of the people who would use it would be thankless bastards... and anyone knowing such tricks should really keep them to a small bunch of people who appreciate the time/research involved and not just give it out to the thankless massesjust my 2c though...

Of course there are always 2 sides to a coin. Might as well they use the maxi image then, much simpler than someone breaking his neck to make something like a punkbuster proof nocd patch...

But you also have to remember, once you ran the game its data was then resident in the memory including the protection scheme, when you quit the game, perhaps the Protection scheme was still sitting in the memory and causing the game to fail to load. This can be because of a software fault either on your end or their end, or even hardware fault like bad RAM. |

can also be a bad image, missing data, safedisc checks like securom, their checks vary in ranges depending on date/time etc.. so a tetchy image may work on 1 day, then not on the next, then 2 days after that and so on... thats what you get for using mini/maxi images... the protection can on occasions check different areas (or even the content / crc of those areas), and on a mini/maxi image the data for those areas may not be correct...
a prime example (albeit, its an old game, but i have fond memories of playing with its check, along with a few other people).. was worms world party.. where, upon connecting to the server a challenge / response style communication was made.. the server asked for the checksum / data from a specific sector (on day #1 it was sector 0x17171717 .. which didn't exist.. but it was a nice tag <team 17 ;p>, then on day #2 they changed it to another sector, varying it as/when they wanted.. so if you had a warez copy you were screwed for playing online)... similar 'tricks' are still in use these days, but not many people notice them...

Just thought i'd update this old thread.
I fixed my problem, I reinstalled (the exact same version, most recent) of Daemon Tools (obviously what was conflicting) and it didn't give me the issue again. Lest I remind, nothing to do with a pirate copy or anything, completely original disk. |

I'm guessing the following programs are being used:
To Quazimojo and Psipherious: Please let us know how you guys got Blindwrite to read the image??? Were you using a certain DVD drive, a certain version of Blindwrite, a certain OS, etc? It's totally awesome you both got this to work in such a simple way! But the rest of us are kind of left in the dark here. Just as the last post from green7izard, I keep having the error from Blindwrite, "DVD-ROM, incomplete" which grays out the "Read" button. What's up with that? I've even tried using different DVD burners (Sony, Plextor), and even tried using my MacBook in Windows XP and I get the same problem. Please Help!

Even Simpler...
I got it to work. For some reason I was under the impression that I HAD to use Blindwrite to create the image. Not so! Here is what I did:For the sake of useful info: I have a Sony Optiarc DVD burner. I hope this helps someone.

It really can't? You mean, it does have that imaging function but it doesn't make working images, right? (Never used it anyway...)

It can create images, but not for protections (you can't select profiles).
