Battlefield 2142 - valid dvd & key - Can i use a DVD image?

Battlefield 2142 -

i have a valid dvd & key - Can i use a DVD image and still play online everywhere??

i just have a bad track of ruining disks. i want to keep bf2142 unscratched
i know bf2 had a no dvd i used . but i never had the real disk for that and never could play online. i bought 2142 and i know my disc will get fumblucked if i leave it in the drive where anyone at my pc can get at it.

I will make my own full dvd image if it will be the same as my disc.
anyone know the procedure, it seems from other posts that a full image works for some, just not sure if they use it online or exactly what i need to do

any help will be greatly appreciated
