Battlefield 2142 1.5 No-DVD?

Is there anyone out there willing to make that? I'm stuck with 1.25, as the 1.4 doesn't work.

Would have posted in one of the other threads but they ether were closed or had a slightly different topic.

There is none, and no image will work either for online play.

Unfortunately for the meantime you are stuck with your original to play/play online with 1.5

What's the deal if the original copy you have doesn't work either? Can't seem to find anything official, but I keep getting that "unable to authenticate original disk within the time limit" rubbish despite actually having a brand new copy.

It worked for one night, I restarted the PC then it decided not to work.... actually I might not have even restarted the PC at all.

Is your DVD drive old?
maybe is something installed on your computer that reduces the drive speed and you get that error - something you may installed and after you reboot the PC start running.
Check what's starting in your PC with "msconfig.exe" (type it on the start menu > run and see the services tab)
Also, try to play the game on other computer and see is the error happens.
As a final solution, try to re-install windows, install the game, play, reboot, play again and see if it's ok.

The thing is, I was playing it for 10 hours straight yesterday, after installing. There were no issues, I haven't rebooted the PC since or installed anything, but that error now occurs.

Publishers not got any help for you? Im sure if you explain to them they might come up with a solution.

But the CD/DVD-rom you have may indeed have problems reading the disc well enough unfortunately.

If you know a friend who has an external caddy with a drive via USB you could always try with it on your machine, if it doesnt work there is a possibility your system may be not stable and there is memory leaks.

Got my BF2142 1.50 to work without CD in Drive, running off a maxi (full) DVD-image.

Quite simply, all I did was use Alcohol 120 to create the image in it's mds format. I used the image creation wizard and simply selected SecuROM which automatically sets DPM to High (you'll see when you're in the wizard window). I did not check the option to skip errors (and I didn't get any errors during the image creation process).

After the image was created, closed Alcohol - did *not* use Alcohol's image emulation, I just disabled it.

I got the very latest version of Daemon Tools v4 and installed that. Then I downloaded another addon to Daemon Tools called Y.A.S.U. Also available on D-Tools website in the addons section. v1.4.7080.

Mounted my mds image with D-Tools, enabled SecuROM emulation.

Ran Y.A.S.U. and cloaked my drives, I just left the default SafeDisk 4.x and SecuROM 7.x cloaking checked off (and hit the Cloak button).

Minimize Y.A.S.U. (you have to leave it running).

Execute game, and voila, she works. Doesn't come back with the stupid error that you can't run the game from a backup copy of the disc or any crap like that, it just works.

The Y.A.S.U. cloaker was the missing component for me, I tried all sorts of other ways to get this to work with Alcohol emulator, with D-Tools alone, it kept giving me errors on starting up 2142 that I couldn't use a backup copy of the DVD. After installing Y.A.S.U. and cloaking my drives and doing nothing else different, Battlefield ran without an issue.

Good Luck!

You don't install YASU, you just start it.
You also don't need SecuROM emulation unless you are using a RMPS copy and then you won't need YASU.

Hey I'm just tryin' to make a simple post about what I did to get it to work since people are asking.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Install...uter_programs): "Some software is designed to be installed simply by copying their files to the desired location ..."

Since you have to download Y.A.S.U., extract (unpack) it form the zip file that it comes downloaded it and then move it to your D-Tools folder. You are doing exactly what the dictionary and encyclopedia consider "installing". So yes, you do "install" it based on the English definition of the word install.

As for not needing SecuROM emulation enabled in Daemon Tools, you are correct. I just tried it with all emulation options off and it works this way as well.

@Psipherious...

being flippant just threw this thread off topic... knock it off

install usually means/implies running a setup.exe / install.exe / whatever.exe, which makes entries in the add/remove component in control panel... thus, this is where installed programs go to....

what you did was unrar'ed a 'plugin' into an existing folder (where you installed daemon tools), and then ran it... there was NO installation, at best, there was file creation...

blazi was correct, regardless of how many links you made (note how you linked to NON technical dictionaries...).. next time, i will install an infraction on your user account.. got it?.. now lets get back on topic...

i got 2142 working last night using blindwrite and just mounting the image in daemon tools and its working perfect so people may want to try that option as well and this is an image i made of my original , i did this like a year and half ago and used alchohol120 at the time and it worked but thought maybe they implemented new CP in it so i did some searching and came across blindwrite and i dont have to use yasu no disable anything or enable emulation go figure . i hate keeping discs in my laptop cause they get destroyed somehow or someway and im glad this worked . now if only i could find a way to get my alone in dark to work without having to spend 50 bucks on DTpro .

Blindwrite image from above user Quazimojo confirmed working.

It seems Y.A.S.U is indeed not required. Shorty after reading the above post I downloaded Blindwrite 6 and created myself a maxi image (using blindwrite 6 native image format) using it as well.

I tried to mount it immediately after and after turning off Y.A.S.U. and I received the error Emulation Software Detected with both the Blindwrite (using blindwrite 6 native image format). Then I tried enabling Y.A.S.U. again and remounting my previous image and was still getting the emulation software detected error.

At this point I used the 'uninstall driver' command from Blindwrite and then I completely uninstalled Blindwrite from my computer, restarted my system and immediately after startup tried mounting the blindwrite image without Y.A.S.U. and it worked!

Well after that working I unmounted it and remounted the Alcohol image again and it also worked! Without Y.A.S.U for some reason this time. I'm not sure what changed upon reboot other than installing and uninstalling Blindwrite. Also I suppose disabling Alcohol 120's emulation would have come into effect after reboot as well (I don't reboot often) but it's working now with just the straight image in both formats.

So if you're still having trouble getting 2142 to run from a full dvd image, give some of the above options a try, reboot your system, try an alcohol 120 image, try a blindwrite 6 image and lastly you can try Y.A.S.U. - one of these or a combination of them I believe will likely work fine for most people.

EDIT: I went to sleep, got up and tried to execute 2142 again using the Alcohol image and I started to recieve the error: can not run from a backup copy, again, so I switched to the blindwrite image again and it still works fine without Y.A.S.U. using soley D-Tools with no emulation options on and a B6T (blindwrite 6) image. The only things I'm aware of that have changed since I ran it successfully yesterday with both images and no Y.A.S.U is that I now have Firefox and my instant messenger running, nothing else, I haven't changed any services, added or removed any virtual drives, nothing that I can see that would cause it to display the backup error again. All I can tell you is that the blindwrite one still works just fine so I'm going to delete the Alcohol one since the B6T clearly seems to work better.

Thanks for the info Quazimojo.

Good luck with this to all!

I've tried many number of things, many of the above all failing.

But just like you had "nothing change" overnight, the same thing happened to me last night again.
I just randomly went to start 2142 to show a friend what happens, and it god damn starts, and I played again for several hours. I turned it off twice and started it again, no issues.

I go to sleep, wake up today, try to run it again, haven't done ANYTHING at all, PC is in the same state as last night and PC has been on the entire time. Same god damn error.

Some random crap from this protection rubbish. The people who really want to rip them off for money will do it, whether we buy copies or not, now they're just fucking over legitimate buyers. Pathetic.: confused:

One must wonder, if there was an individual skilled enough to patch the Safedisc CD Check, could they code a loader and thereby fool the punkbuster protection's integrity checks? All you would have to do it undo changes made to the exe by the loader before punkbuster even starts checking (before the OEP...). Something interesting to try out I guess.
