Ok, here is the update on my previous post:
After deleting patched (protected) v2.08 exe I patched the game with the Gamershell (unprotected) patch. AND IT WORKED! Obviously the problem was that I patched the game with protected patch before applying the Gamershell (unprotected) one. I also saved the unprotected .exe and patched the game with the patch from Civfanatics.com (protected) and replaced the protected .exe with unprotected (Gamershell). And it worked once again. So, basically, we have a working no-cd/fixed exe for Warlords v2.08. I just finished uploading it to GCW and it is available for you to enjoy!
