Unprotected Warlords 2.08 patch

It seems, due to error of publisher, that there are unprotected versions of this new patch available on some sites (without CD check). They are of smaller size (59.17MB) then the regular ones.

So be quick, and download it before it gets removed and replaced with protected version.

One of such sites that still has unprotected version:

Just downloaded it, but still asks for original to be present in the drive.
Can anybody make a fixed exe or upload the exe of unprotected version?

EDIT: SEE UPDATE BELOW!

You're not wrong, nice find P22, Publisher fuckups are not our problem :)

@kopija: You sure? It doesn't ask for any disc for me > Civ4 > Warlords > Unprotected Patch 2.08 > No Disc Needed!

BTW, Digital Download patch 2.08 has Activemark, DEARM can unwrap it but you still need to manually remove the nag browser ;)

maciozo 01-11-2006 07:39

@BarryB: didn't they moved on to newer AM? Civo-4 had already built-in 5.5 version which is a hard nut to crack (DEARM cannot even dump it).

Ok, here is the update on my previous post:

After deleting patched (protected) v2.08 exe I patched the game with the Gamershell (unprotected) patch.
AND IT WORKED!
Obviously the problem was that I patched the game with protected patch before applying the Gamershell (unprotected) one.
I also saved the unprotected .exe and patched the game with the patch from Civfanatics.com (protected) and replaced the protected .exe with unprotected (Gamershell). And it worked once again.
So, basically, we have a working no-cd/fixed exe for Warlords v2.08.
I just finished uploading it to GCW and it is available for you to enjoy!

Thank you P22, without you this would not have been possible!

@kopija: Patching with the same patch kept the original protected exe, no wonder it asked for the disc.

@maciozo: AM ver is 5.5.1250, dumped fine, use Force IAT swap and manual nag fixing.

ActiveMark 5.x not to easy to remove, but EASIEST like a SecuROM or SD 4,
it has 4 or 5 steps (Dump 1&2/Get Imports/Del Invalid Thunks/TMSAMVOF &
Nag Remove), if you have ENOUGH time etc. Good luck to everyone!
(especially Barry B and Maciozo).

i'll try that BarryB on some new 5.5 targets. i was also playing around with Boonty's 5.42 but it seems they've rigged them a bit more. anyway, thanks for good wishes

Hey guys. Thanks for your work, now I can load up Civ4: Warlords beautifully!

My question, though, is that if it is possible to play online with a cracked version of CIV4. I remember that I've done it once when the game was first released, and I'm wondering now if it's still possible to do so. Right now, when I try to log into my account, the game would just freeze for about 10 seconds and do nothing.

No-CD patches usually don't work online; (mini/maxi/full) images are recommended instead. (Read the forum FAQ.)
