Quake 4 question?

I usually use no cd exes to play Quake 4, and have been using the v1.o one by Deviance(The only one I think).THis exe has been fine up until now. I am now wanting to patch my game to v1.4 so that I ccan use V1 Benchmark patch from Guru website, which allows all types of resolutions and settings.I uderstand that if I patch the game that I won't be able to use the V1.0 exe anymore right? Other thajn using the DVD , what else can I do now?I have never used dvd images and won't be able to make my own one. I have seen some ready made images on the gamecopyworld website, are these what I ma looking for. And do you have to use that anti black listing tool , as that is the part I find difficult.Thank you.

Cheer up mate, as I heard it - v1.04 drops the protection completely. No need for a fixed EXE.

i installed the update then went to play the game and it asked me for the cd key again before i could proceed, then i input key and game worked fine
