No i left them plugged in both power and eide cables, i only killed eide in bios, i wont play a game if i had to open case all time.
Obv this is only a option if you use a SATA HDD. I can do it with starforce****er/nightmare, but them apps hang pc mostly for me.

i got my alcohol imagedrive enabled.
maybe the people with problems didnt install the new version properly  (uninstall old dt -> reboot -> install new dt -> reboot -> continue installation)
