UMD Drive dead?

Hi folks...
Sorry to bother with this **** but I have a problem.

My copy of NFS:UR just arrived at my place and guess what?
IT WONT BOOT!

WTF? The Laser sounds like its jumping at one point... it does Sound like a little "click" ... I put the disk in the open tray to watch and TADAA...

The Laser DOES jump... about 1 mm left then right then left... and so on.
So... I have no clue because this is my first and only UMD!

Is it the Laser, the UMD or my imagination???
Any suggestions would be good..!

PEACE
(Sorry for my bad english)

Ahh... if it would be sooo simple I would have done that real sooner.
No. Problem is Im from Germany... at my Country PSPīs arent sold YET!
(September is the launch Date)

I bought mine from Ebay. So there is no returning
I think the only way to solve this is a new UMD Drive...

Heard the will be sold soon.

Well,

Sony should have a warranty option for PSP bought overseas. You'll find they'll announce the costs closer to the launch in that country. It won't be free that's for sure

No. Its not second hand!
The Box was sealed and the PSP Brand new.

You can tell just by looking at it. I time touching that thing...
never looks like new again.

Sony HAS problems with dead drives. Ive read a little about
it now and it seems that the first one from Japan had that issue.

So, no big deal... never intended to actually buy games!

PEACE

You could always buy a new one when they come out in your country and return the old one...

It`s an old trick I have used before, in busy stores where the staff arent too hot on these things...

Yeah I thought about that Idea but in my Country the PSP
will be out with the Firmeware 2.0

And THAT sux big time. Cause it will be ages before you could run
all that homebrew easy on these things!

But the Idea had come to my mind. Maybe this will be my last chance.
Donīt know.
But however I can life with the dead drive... somehow.

If you PSP was brand new, never opened, it should have had a sample UMD in the box, there fore your PSP was either defective for the factory or the guy tampered with it. Either way, you can return it to the guy, becuase no matter what, he has to take it back for it being defective for atleast 30 days, unless it was used. If you want me to look at it to see if i can find a loop hole, what was the URL to the auction?
