In Australia, your can buy a game from EB Games (Electronic Boutique) and return it within 7 days without giving a reason why you are returning it! You can even say "I didnt like the game"! Not that I have ever needed to do this as I research every game before I actually buy it. Most times I will rent a game first to try it. My local game rental shop will allow you to rent a game then if you decide to buy it they will take of the price of the rental from the sale price.

Thats a good posistion for the consumer to be in. Im in the UK and we used to have "EB" but its now called "Game". Game also used to allow you buy a PC game and return it within 14 days regardless of your reasons. Now this has changed and they no longer do it . In the UK some shops will still allow you to return a game after purchase regardless of reasons but this dosent extend to PC titles as well. I noticed that game selling shops have changed their attitude towards the return of PC games (obviously due to them being coppied and then returned for a full refund). Now in the UK the time has come where all (if not most) game selling shops DONT allow the return of PC games for a refund or even a swap of game unless its a store that dose secondhand games to swap. How times have changed the past couple of years mostly due to piracy (imo). So i now (always did actualy) make sure i have looked into good trusted reviwes before i spend my hard earned £s on a game. I have been able to find a couple of stores that will allow the return of a PC game but its not how it used to be and its all down to what the consumer says the reason for returning the game is. My advice to all is to look at reveiws before parting with your £s.

LOL It would be good for regular merchandise huh. Tell you what would be even better than merchandise returning regardless of reasons and that would be being able to return ones spouce, girlfreind etc (regardless of reasons)

(mine would of been traded in the minute she started popping babies out)

In germany you can't return the game (software) to shop after opened the box.
Yes, that's sad in some way...but some shops are so friendly and do it (except MP-games like BF2 or Söldner - Secret Wars)...
In my shop - "Media Point Bernau" (near Berlin) - they normally take it back if you have already opened it and don't like it or you have probs with your hardware...
