Newbie at computers; attempting to backup first DVD

Hi.

I am very basic with computers so please forgive me.

I have been trying to backup my first DVD using DVD Decrypter and DVDShrink.

Everything worked out fine until the very end when I had to write.

I get this message:

I/O Error!

Device [1:0:0] PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-103 2.00 (D (ATA)

ScsiStatus: 0x02
Interpretation: Check Condition

CDB: 2A 00 00 00 02 60 00 00 20 00
Interpretation: Write (10)- Sectors: 608-639

Sense Area: 70 00 05 00 00 00 00 0E 00 00 00 00 21 02 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00

Interpretation: Invaliad Address For Write

I have attempted to use a lot of DVD-RW discs but not one of them has thus far worked.

Please help!

@Sasha-Lemington
Are you trying to backup a movie or a game?
If you are trying to backup a movie try using the programs AnyDVD and CloneDVD2. Go here to read more about how to use these programs.
Dabhand may very well be correct tho about the 103 not being very good! I dont know much about that drive so I cant agree or disagree with what he says. But from what I have followed in all his other posts he does appear to know what he is talking about! So that gives me no reason to disagree with him.

99% worked

It got up to the last step (using your clonedvd2 and anydvd).

Then the following error occured:

Writing to video media was not successful:

media write error

A write error has occurred, probably caused by a bad media.

Please replace the media and try again.

P.S. My friend who gave me this DVD writer used to use something called SpruceUp and it worked, but he told me that they are no longer sold. So the DVD writer did work, I'm just not very good with it.

What im trying to say is the 103 didnt have much hardware support for types of media than the newer types of pioneer have.

Your best getting a new burner buddy.

Or try to use DVD decryptor then CloneDVD to resize your backup, it may be that DVDshrink doesnt support the 103 Pioneer well either.

OK, I shall do that but I have one last question.

Is it possible that I need a DVD-R for copying a DVD and not a DVD-RW which is what I am using?

I got the same error. Try to flash your dvd burner with the latest firmware update. I made it and it works.

Nope, but DVD-rw is good for testing cause if you make a mistake you can erase it and use again and again.

What kind of media did you use?
If you havent already, try Verbatim media. Those are high quality and work with about every burner on the market.

v2.00 firmware, which you have and is the latest one for that model.

http://www.pioneer-eur.com/eur/suppo...are#fdvdwriter.

is it the official firmware your using? If not that might be the cause of the problem. Hacked firmwares allow any write speed on a particular disc to used For example, 1x only dvdr can be burned at 2x or 4x in some cases.

My method of ripping consists of Dvd decrypter/Dvd2one 1.52/Nero to burn.

Never fail a burn.

Futhermore, make sure the drive is set on its own IDE channel. Secondary master is recommended with DMA enabled.
