Question Help! Newbie to DVD backup world??

Hi folks,
This is my first time here and the dvd backup community. I just recently bought a DVD burner(formats +RW/+R supported). I been tring to figure out a way to make a one-one copy. I first tried the nero express software to backup "Purple Rain". It copied just fine but when I insert the +R disc in my home player, it just turns. I figure this is due to copy protection. I also have a dvd recorder I have been using BEFORE I got this burner for the pc. I tried the record now software with my dvd recorder disc, and says it hasn't got enough space on disk. I know for a fact I need to upgrade to a bigger H.D. (currently 5.1 GB). I just have a few questions overall....If someone wold help a newbie out..

1. What is the best software for removing copy protection and where can I find it.I read Info edit was good???
2. Best disc to disc software to use??

*Note* I got bashed in another forum for using the word"copy" instead of "Backup".

What dvd player are you using? A lot of dvd players don't support dvd+r media.
