NBA Live 2005 --- Patching

Hey guys, if I can get any help possible, I would much appriciate it.

These are the steps I took...

Made a .nrg file with Nero from my origional NBA 2005 dvd.

Now the image works fine and plays, but im having difficulties with the DNAS patching.

1) My first time
- I got the ID from the dvd with disk id utility, then I patched the game on my pc hdd with the GUI patcher, it said patched, so I burnt the image file and the dnas gave me an error in the 400's. Which means the game didnt patch at all.

2) My second time
- I got a patcher from PS2Ownz, which made me look through my image file for the dnasXXX.img file manually, and then use there little gui patcher to patch the file, and re-inject it into the image with winimage.

I burnt it again, this time, the dnas took a little longer, and then gave me an authentication error in the 800's.

So, if I did anything wrong or anything, I dont know, can I please get some assistance with this, or any thoughts.

Please and thank you.

Im at work, cant remember the exact 800 error, maybe close to 824 or something, it also said, Authentication Error.

For number 1) I used PS2Nfo Image Patcher (This one, did everything automatically, I just added in my Disk Id)
for number 2) I used Disk Id Inserter ( so I found the dnasXXX.img file manually, used the Disk Id Inserter, then re-injected it)

come on man! you've been in ps2 forums long enough to know that image patcher is stolen version of windip, besides image patcher 1.6 is from old windip 1.5 that doesn't have scan feature for unknow dna$ files, this ability added to windip 1.7 .
anyway if the error number is 864, it means the id that you've got from original disk is not correct, maybe your modchip interfering with the dna$ id utility.

So, a solution might be to actually pacth the game with windip(newest version) instead of the id patcher?

I ll try it tonight.

no that Disk Id Inserter patched your game correctly, you first go see what is the exact error number and if it is error 864, then find a way to get correct id from the original disk.

Alright, thanks for the info. However, if the error is 864, which now for some reason(maybe because its the worst one) how in hell, would I get the right id off the disk?

some modchips interfere with the dna$ id utility and gives you random id, what modchip you have?

I have the Magic V.

Now, if thats the case, how difficult is it to take the last three hex numbers of a good id, and create a unique one? I read that you can do that.

However, have no idea about hex numbers to even attempt.

Like, I can just play my origional online, but I wanna crack this, its buggin me.

I remember people with magic chip, should hold eject when they hit X to get the id, I should do some search to tell you the exact steps for magic chip.

That would be great if you can tell me, or show me where to go and I will search.

If I push eject the disk will come out...

This is good progress...

ok I couldn't find it, but I think it was like this:
load the disk id utility
hit eject and put the original disk into tray
press and hold eject untill tray closed and don't release the eject
hit X to get the id.

repeat these steps and each time you should get same id.

FreeFighter is on a distinguished road
I took it from my own post on another forum

For the Magic V/Messiah 2 users; If you have problems reading the Disk ID because when you're hitting X you're getting invalid ID numbers. The reason you're getting these invalid numbers is because your chip is interfearing with it. There's a way around it now:

1. Put in discid cd into ps2.
2. Hit the eject button and put in orginal.
3. Hit the eject button (closing the ps2) and HOLD IT!
4. Hit the X button while still holding eject (this bypasses your chip because it's in "sleep" mode).
5. To verify, keep on holding eject and keep on hitting X ( if you're getting the same IDs then it's a valid ID).

Thanks to melvis for sharing.
