Problem with backups (only sometimes)

On occasion, some of my backups don't work. The ones that don't work, will be playing fine, then about 1/2 or 3/4 of the way through...they start to freeze, then play, then freeze, then play, etc. etc. Like I said....it's not all the time, just sometimes. If I go and make another backup of the same movie...it usually works fine. I'm using DVD Shrink w/ Ritek 4x DVD+R's. Any ideas would be great. Thanks guys.

Well, it could be due to problems with your standalone player playing +R media. Try -R instead.

It's definately not that, because as I said....if I redo the same movie....it's usually fine. And besides that, my DVD player plays all formats. And, the disks that fail, will also fail on friends players that play backups.

Also....which media is more widely compatable? +R or -R? I have always thought that it was +R.

Definately -R is more popular.
