F: Drive Corruption?

So I went to backup Halo to test out this Xenium on my 1.6..
Anyway I get it backed up to the F: drive since its a bigger partition.
It copies over fine.. It was playable and everything through the evodash..

I FTP over to give making an actual backup disc and try and first off I notice on another note I don't have access to my D: drive.. Not sure why. Went through the FAQs and everyone seems to state it like its a given it should be present.. So ok getting on with it.. I open up the F: Drive and its completely garbled.. Like it was corrupted or something.. I have negative file sizes.. strange stuff.. Couldn't really do anything with it.. The entire partition was like that..

Only think I could think to do was format it through the Xenium OS.. (the partition, not the entire drive) So it was free and clear.. I backed up Halo again this time on the E: which was much smaller (almost used up the entire partiton with Halo) I FTP over and its perfect.. Don't understand.

Unless this was covered in an FAQ I missed, or maybe it was just a chance happening.. I'll try to backup to the F: again in the future.. Maybe it was just a bad trip.. Any thoughts on the cause?

re:

Hmm.. I'm far from an expert on this but you asked for thoughts.

I'm wondering what was running on the xbox at the time you tried the FTP.

I've got a 1.6 with an Xenium ICE in it, and I've had some wacky happenings when trying to FTP to anything other than the C: and E: drives while the Xenium OS is running. Ever since I've had those problems, I always make sure EvoX dash is on and not Xenium OS.

Just my 2 cents.

Hey trans.. I'm not even able to access FTP at any other screen than the X-OS.. I remember reading in the ICE Guide off of the OzXodus site that it wasn't even possible to get a connection while at the EvoX dash.. Obviously there must be a way if you can do it.. Anything special you had to do to accomplish that?

That's really weird.

You should check in the EvoX Dash settings to make sure that you've got the FTP server on, the right password, and the right IP (static if you need it) on as well.

Hmmm.. I've used FTP for everything as I don't have a DVD burner, and I've had no problems. I used the X-OS to FTP the EvoX dash files across, as well as my BIOS files. And ever since then I've preferred using the FTP server of the EvoX dash.

I wonder if the F drive being locked has anything to do with it.. And I tried getting FTP access while in EvoX but just can't do it.. You're using M8_16 right Trans? Um.. I dunno I'm giving my second try at putting Halo on the F drive.. we'll see what happens in about 10 minutes..

On another note what temperature does your dash spit out trans? Mine say says something crazy even at IDLE.. Like 190F something for the cpu.. which is bull.. I gotta tweak the INI or something..

Solved.. Alright guys.. I finally got my G drive to show and take up the slack 60 some gigs or so.. and the F is free and clear..

I patched the bios (M8_16) with the large disc support patch.. reflashed.. didn't work.. Still couldn't see the items on the F: disc..

Thanks to rms2001 for this link.. was a life saver..
http://www.xbox-scene.com/articles/hdd-ftp.php

In short you have to format your G: (after patching with LBA48 support via EVTools) and I don't think it would be completely necessary but they go into also formatting the E: drive to fix errors with online enabled games. Freezing and things of that nature..

This was all apparently due to a few little bugs in the built in formatter for the Xenium OS2.. (which I still really like)

Anyway once you get by that problem (for those with 137 gig and above drives) everything else is a breeze.

This was also helpful
