trouble with 1st_read.bin
I'm trying to make a self-booting copy of dc quake, I'm using copydog and have set up everything in the .bat file.
I'm using a non-booting copy to work from in my cd-rom, with a blank cdr in the writer. All goes well into it checks the "boot.bin", it looks for 1st_read.bin, which is there, but for some reason cannot "find" it, then if Is et it up thru' -b to find 1st_read.bin, it still cant find it. Advice would be very welcome

are you sure that 1ST_READ.BIN is the name of the boot filename? To check the boot filename, open up IP.BIN in a hex or text editor. Look on the top, It should say something similar to: "V.001XX BLAH.BIN". BLAH.BIN would be BOOT.BIN

yeah it's quite puzzling really, I've tried using my cdrw as reader and writer, and just as writer with my cd-rom as reader - still comes up with the same error; I'll try a different ip.bin though as it's been modified to be vga compatible, might work, unless anyone has any other ideas!
thnx again for reply |
