trouble with 1st_read.bin
I'm trying to make a self-booting copy of dc quake, I'm using copydog and have set up everything in the .bat file.
I'm using a non-booting copy to work from in my cd-rom, with a blank cdr in the writer. All goes well into it checks the "boot.bin", it looks for 1st_read.bin, which is there, but for some reason cannot "find" it, then if Is et it up thru' -b to find 1st_read.bin, it still cant find it. Advice would be very welcome :) |
Did u try isobuster? never used it but i heard its good for this stuff. Also what does you Pc read the disc as? can you see the files or is it just the audio?

are you sure that 1ST_READ.BIN is the name of the boot filename? To check the boot filename, open up IP.BIN in a hex or text editor. Look on the top, It should say something similar to: "V.001XX BLAH.BIN". BLAH.BIN would be BOOT.BIN

thnx for the replies, yes it does point to 1st_read.bin in ip.bin, just checked for sure thru' hex editor

are you sure that you set "READ_DRV= " to point to your cdreader??
|
yeah it's quite puzzling really, I've tried using my cdrw as reader and writer, and just as writer with my cd-rom as reader - still comes up with the same error; I'll try a different ip.bin though as it's been modified to be vga compatible, might work, unless anyone has any other ideas!
thnx again for reply |
