What chip is the best for a version 9 ps2? - Page 2

well to them they r happy with it if they want a real mod they can buy it later on when they get the cash i can sell them a used ps2 with the chip install for a price of a new one then if they want a mod and ask me about it i give them some links to installers but if they dont ask about any way of playing w/o swaping then i dont tell them it just gets me more out of a used unit them a unit its self

i had one guy who bought a flip top from me send me the unit to install it lol i told him there was nothing to it but he wanted me to do it so sence he bought the flip top i charged like 10$ more on the lid then what i payed to make money then did it for free but he had to pay shiping there and back on something he could had did his self

Why not just start them off right? Talk them into spending the money and time on a proper mod that they will be happy with for a long time to come, instead of turning them off to the whole mod scene when there PS2 dies from the swap crap.

but dont worry im along ways from cali so i wont be takeing any bussines from u

but u do know flip tops wont kill a ps2 theres no way it could unless the owner leaves the lid open and gets alot of dirt in it which would be the owners fault cause it has nothing to do with the ele part of a ps2 and swap disk wont kill a unit its no dif then any other pressed disk but no solders do but very rarely out of all the 100s of these i did only one chiped killed a ps2 and slide cards i dont even use them things so i couldnt say

OK first off I'm not worried about competition from you or anyone, and I'm not trying to sound pompous. There are many installers in Cali not to mention the rest of the country. Oh and also I get PS2's from as far away as New York and even one from Main, so you not being in Cali is besides the issue. I do this because I enjoy it. The money I make from the installs barely supports its self.

But to get on with the issue of the swap magic and flip top mod's, regardless of if the flip top will do damage to the PS2 or not it just doesn’t compare to the no-swap mods. I mean there are all the patching and swapping and flipping of tops, which by the way seams like a real peace of crap that breaks off easily. So why not convince people to use the real thing that requires no patching, no swapping, and no hassle. And what you said about it being the owners fault is eliminated with the no-swap mods. The no-swap mods are idiot proof! You can’t leave the top open to fill with dirt because there is no silly top to flip. As for the slid cards, these are the worst. Over time it wears out the drive motor and eject mechanism.

Finally it’s really up the buyer in the end but why not sway them to something that will make them happy and not fail or be a hassle to use?

yeah it has its up's and downs i prefer not to use no swap style but like when my mod stoped working it came in handy till i got it fixed

and also my first mod was a apple and it got were it would not play any the hot newer games so i had to get a new chip in a new unit and had problems ever sence my installer was not the best i had to send the unit to him 2 times aftr i got it the first time costing me shiping and time of sending it off then my disk tray comes out but wobbles real bad like he broke something on it he did this to 2 v9s i had first one died to eeprom 2nd im still useing so i know it was'nt a mistake it was like he broke it to get it solder my very first time i got the unit back the tray was not like that but the 2nd 2 times it was

so i figer if it gose out any time soon i will have to fix it my self

then the fan wire broke off first time i got the v9 back causeing it to over heat and i had a POS 25 watt iorn and a huge tip took me 2 hours to get that solder back on burned my hand no telling how many times i told the modder and he said i could had sent it back but i just got it that day from a week w/o it and relly did not want to send it off for another week so i did fix that myself

and solder jobs getting so cheap now days i dont see how its even worth doing loy dose it for $30 w/o chip so that means hes only makeing prob around $25 in cash which is'nt much for that kinda work and ur right about flip tops some of them r made cheap like the ones i have i had it to break like u said but i got it superglude back togather and it works again and the loaders and stuff is a pain but there only a few games that use them and they got a new all in one loader out now that will boot any game needing a loader with the one disk and they fixing to make it were u can use the loader from the mem card so u wont have to swap as much no more

Your comment on the original apple chip not working with the newer games that where coming out and having to get a newer updated chip is justified. But the chips that are out these days have resolved all those problems, thus once again no need to be promoting the swap mod's. The comment about the loader in my eyes doesn’t justify the promotion of the swap mods either, you still have to swap and even if it’s loaded on the memory card you still have to load it from there. With the no-swap mods you just throw in your back-up and go. No patching, no swapping, no hassles...just great gaming!

I was just replying to seans samrt remark saying i use swap disk lol what ever i have 2 modded systems why use swap disk and theres no way me and billy bob's the same I dont mary my kin lol.

and about a good chip for the v9 i would prob go with the apple 3 cause it seems to be the cheapest and works great

Rock on sped look at the mod installers sticky and see how many customers hes had evo?

im sure he gets alot more than that this is just 1 forum and i think hes perfectly happy with selling PROPER MODS! not swap magic ****. Oh yea evo go get some glases and get a dictionary and study it. oh and btw the swap magic does hurt the ps2 i saw it on a site the other week aparantly all that swaping does wear out the laser alot quicker!
