What chip is the best for a version 9 ps2?
 

I just bought a new ps2 version 9, and i was wondering what chip would be the best to install in it? I have the messiah 2, but i don't know if it works with this version of ps2 and is there any disabanteges in this version of ps2?
If anyone knows any websites with cheap modchips, please let me know.

M2 1.33b is ok. Have to admit that i'm a bit disapointed with it. I had a version 7 with m2 1.31 and it worked flawlessly. Any old cd/cdr or dvd/dvd-r u put in it booted no problem. Now have a version 9 with m2 1.33b. Its ok but a bit picky about how long you hold in the eject button to what mode the chip goes into. and sometimes it sticks on a particular mode even after going into standby. Its an ok chip and will boot anything. I would definitely pick M2 over any magic chip any day of the week.

Why? Not to bag on the M2 but I see no advantage in it over the Magic V other then it being an over priced money maker for the developer.

They are both good chips it’s really up to the buyer in the end, or what your pocket book will allow. The M2 has NO features over the Magic V and boots no better. But the popularity of the M2 is what draws most people to think it’s the best, and at one time it was. In fact my PS2 has a M2 but only because at the time it was the best on the market. But these days there are many a good mod on the market that not only give the M2 a run for its money but shoot it out of the water as well.

i would say the magic v 50k or the dms3 v9 will be the best option or even the matrix mod that looks good.

No reason. Just personal preference, thats all. Just like you'd pick magic over messiah 2. No big deal. Maradonna asked for opinions, thats my opinion.

I second that. The M2 is a very good chip but now you also have to consider the Matrix MXL/Smartchip Pro X5 and Ripper2 Gold.

I think the problem exists mostly in PAL consoles. So far i have had no problems with the V9.

Theres not so many nowadays. I have had a v10 go the same way after only 3 weeks.

what do you do if it dies a few weeks later?

Wtf i like it cause it puts money in my pocket so of course i will like it i can get just as much from a sell i do with a swap style chip as a sell with a solder chip and belive me swap style is alot less work for the same price and alot of people r stupid and never heard of a mod so any thing is good to them :D

Are you trying to say people actually pay you to mod there PS2's with swap crap! Amazing! I guess it will put money in your pocket but take much more from the persons PS2 you put it in when their money they thought well spent one day costs a whole hell of a lot more once it kills the PS2.

By the way it really blows me away that some one would pay some one else to set them up with the swap magic mod….. I mean its like nothing to it, who the hell would pay to have that
done…….
