It depends, what type of dvd burner do you have? Does it burn
-D or +D or both.

If both go with -D.

It may work.

They are just different formats. Most dvd lasers are able to read -R easier while +R may need some tweaking to get it to work. Or it may not work at all.

Your best bet is -R. But test it out first. I would make a backup of a dvd movie and test in your ps2. Since you dont need a chip to play dvd movie backups this will be a quick confirmation.

If your having troubles booting your movie that tells you that you may have problems booting PS2 dvd games in +R format.

if its a v7 unit the DUO chip works great and cheap
if its a v9 unit smart chip works great as well and also cheap
if its a v10 unit im not sure if smart chip works but magic 50k or messiah 2 1.33b should do the trick

Remember people, all ps2's are different and some may not read like other ps2's.
