I personally use Zone Alarm. It's a firewall. You can download a free version from www.zonelabs.com. Right click on its icon in your system tray and choose engage internet lock.

Maybe, but I doubt it. It is worth a try if it will save you some discs.

Dear Bighap
Thanks for all your help. I was able to backup Matrix and NBA Street without errors. I changed the Dma and also stopped internet traffic like you said, and one thing also I did different was I recorded in 1x speed when normally I did 2 or 4. I'm not sure what worked, but one of these things must have. However, NBA Street 2 started fine, but stopped on the loading screen and went no further. Could this mean it needs a patch as its the same thing that used to happen when a PS1 game needed a patch? This is the pal version of the game. Matrix works great! THANKS AGAIN!!!

One down one to go. I would try reburning at 2x with DMA disabled and internet traffic blocked. You can actually get worse results when burning at 1x on occasion.

I _never_ advise burning on 1x.

For DATA, burn at the highest rated speed of the drive.

For PSX, PS2, or VideoCD, I always recommend notching down a bit from the maximum speed, but staying AWAY from low speeds.

Low speeds can result in discs that are TOO burnt.

The laser lingering too long on a given spot can lead to problems with units reading the disc afterwards.

For example, I have a 24x CD burner. I burn most of my non-data CD's at 16x. I would NEVER burn at 8x or lower. Not for ANY kind of data.

Same with my DVD burner. For Data, I burn at 4x. For PS2 at 2.4x - NEVER at 1x.

Mine was the other way around. 2x toasted my discs in my 104, so I will use 1x from now on.

That's weird. Was this with Riteks? I have always burned at 2x with my Riteks for movies and games. Never had a bad burn.
