What error are you getting? Does this occur during the burning process or just before the burn is supposed to start? Are you using RNM 4.50?

Gurm 05-06-2003 11:18

Granted I use a +R drive and media (Plextor, Fuji) but RNM 4.50 just... works. Either on-the-fly or record-to-image (much safer).

thanks for your reply. i am using record now dx 4.50 which is apparently the same as recnow max 4.5. the errors i am getting are mostly write errors they occur during the burn process sometimes at the start sometimes at the end. does it have something to do with dla? i previously backed up splinter cell and mortal kombat on the fly which worked but nba street2 and matrix fail on the fly and also with image. i just cant work it out.

Don't do on the fly. Make an image and burn that. Is your A05 set as master? I think you mean DMA. Sometimes disabling DMA helps. Make sure you aren't multitasking while burning either.

superdude 05-06-2003 18:11

i dont think its master is the a way to tell without rebooting does it make a difference

bighap 05-06-2003 18:16

Yes, your burner should be set as master. Write errors usually disappear after switching it over to master. Shut it down and make the switch.

superdude 05-06-2003 18:25

its was already set at ide secondary master. any other ideas?

bighap 05-06-2003 18:56

Are your originals in good shape? Do your Verbatims have dark purple bottoms or are they the light colored cheap ones? You can try changing your DMA setting too.

superdude 05-06-2003 19:37

my originals are perfect, verbatims good quality ive also tried pioneers, could my drive be faulty, could these games have some form of copy protetion as the pal versions might be different from the ntsc versions, how do i change dma settings p.s i really appreciate your help.why do splinter cell and mortal kombat copy and nba street and matrix wont

scamper 05-06-2003 19:44

no dvd to dvd has copy protection . ive done splinter cell , enter the matrix and mortal kombat pal and all works perfect , used a03 fw 2.0 with primo and verbatim dvd-r

bighap 05-06-2003 20:05

To change the DMA setting right click on my computer and select properties. Choose the hardware tab then device manager. Expand IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers. Double click on Primary IDE channel. Choose advanced settings tab. Change transfer mode to PIO only.

i will try it again to see how it goes.do u think any programs might be conflicting with record now to make those errors i do get quite a few (a program has requested a connection screen a few times during the burn process)could this be anything

bighap 05-06-2003 21:49

A few people have reported conflicts with Nero, but it's rare. I persinally block all internet traffic when burning so I don't get anything like that while burning.

superdude 05-06-2003 22:38

how do i block all traffic?im fairly new to computing
