Question for Charlie

I just installed a Magic 3 on my V7 PS2 (brand new). The problem is it will not boot any DVD media not movies, not PS2 games (original or Backups). It boots CD-R based games (original and backups) and PS1 games (original and backups) perfectly. I know it’s not the media since it will not boot original DVD based games and I can play my DVD-R backups on my other machine with a Magic 2. When you insert a DVD (game or movie) all you hear is a clicking sound, after a while it just stops and nothing happens (not red screen or anything). I tried adjusting the laser, but nothing happens and the truth is I don’t know anything about adjusting laser, I turned the little silver screw that reads “DVD” on the bottom of it like 2 whole times little by little and checking to see if it would read the DVDs and nothing then I did the same turning it the opposite way and still nothing. Do you think it could be on the motherboard, if so why would it load CD based games and not DVD based games?

It did load DVDs before I install the chip.
So you think it might be something with the motherboard and not the laser?
I'm going to recheck everything and see what happens.

Look at the install. Paricularly wire E but generally look for a solder ball behind the pins on the CD/DVD Controller or the BIOS.

When you turn the Messiah 2 off, do original DVDs boot?

I should have said:

Lokk at the install. particularly wire W but generally look for a solder ball behind the pins on the CD/DVD Controller or the BIOS.

When you turn the Magic 3 off, do original DVDs boot?
