ok the game crashes during the loading screen for a new game on every setting available...the menus all work fine, the hardware detect fails me on teh graphics card but passes me on everything else...which is sad as my card runs oblivion maxed out and about a year ago was one of the best cards on teh market and well ahead of its time.

im going to try the .ini file editing now..i'll report back after i tried it.

ok this is what i did..

i edited the splintercell4.ini located in c:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Double Agent\SCDA-Offline\System as instructed by penkster

and i got the same thing..crashes half way through loading a new game and gives me a error message saying 'trying set non-registered vertex shader'

any ideas people? before i take this piece of crap back to the shop?

i emailed ubisoft and got a near instant reply here it is>>>

----------------------------------------------

"I understand your frustration, however there comes a time when you have to push the envelope to the next level when it comes to PC games. Splinter Cell: Double Agent is a "Next Gen" PC title.

Since you have voiced your concerns, I am able to offer you a special discount on your next game purchase. If you make your next Ubisoft game purchase from the Ubisoft online store (http://store.ubi.com), you can take up to $10 off and receive FREE shipping on the order."

------------------------

ive just read elsewhere that it is impossible to force sm 2.0 support as it doesent have any support in the first place in the game.

it literally is 3.0 or nothing, and by the looks of things...no patch to fix it.

you think they would of learned from the last mess they made with chaos theory...lack of sales cos of starforce, the game was in the bargain bin inside about 4 months of release in most shops @ £9.99

this game is not gonna sell atall.

I think that's an automated response, since I read of other ppl getting the exact same answer.

I think the hard-core fans will buy it. I know I will. In fact, I will buy both the PC and the Xbox-versions, but that's just me. I'm on the safe side with my X1900XT card.

I think that maybe Ubisoft is growing to big. "Push the envelope"? Yea sure, but that's kicking the customers in the nuts. It's nice to see something new, not just a Chaos Theory mission pack sort of speaking, but they should really turn to a wider audience than just the PS 3.0 users. :-(

Was this ever made clear when the game was being developed?

To run this game I would have to replace Motherboard, CPU, MEM and GFX, not exactly a 'small' upgrade for what is essentially a 'minority' game, and then they have the gall to say we should all be running this type of 'Next Gen' system?

They ought to have that envelope pushed up their a$$es!
