Also instead of going deep into the registry you could change the Busname Daemon-Tools uses during the installation of it..
 That way you will have your own name on it and no game will see it... As for me: Installed Daemon-Tools 3.47 , changed the busname (added a letter or something), installed BF2 fom my original DVD, downloaded the Mini-Image (BleH), mounted with Daemon-Tools and started playing the game. Patched the game, mounted the mini image and started playing the game.
