HP 9100i - Not working anymore...
Hi. I have a certain problem with my CDR drive.
Here is the problem. I can open/close the tray, and when it WAS working, if there was a CD present in the tray, a little green led would light up. Now, when I insert a CD, the drive and the light will flash for 10 seconds and then disappear all together (the light). The CD drive is present in Device Manager, but it doesn't seem to be recogizing any CDs, CDRs or "real" CDs. The DVD drive seems to be working, and if I go inside Nero into the CD Info section, it will be able to read the CD in the DVD drive but be able to do nothing for the CDR drive. Is this thing broken? This drive was working before, able to burn, etc. Now it does not work. Any input or need more info?Any diagnostic programs I should try running and reposting the results, too? Thank you.

It's dead. I have an old hp 7100i that has the same problem. The drive is recognized but when you put in a disc it will try to read it then the green light goes out. Time for a new burner.
