NoCD?
You can make a copy with CloneCD without any abnormal settings, is very easy.
As all the music and stuff is on the PlayCD you need the CD to play the game.

Winupdate
Have you tried Winupdate. There are a lot of fixes/service packs that might help...... I have both games running perfectly on my XP Pro on an Intel chipset, PIII 1GHz, 512MB, ASUS V7700 GF2 video.

Way to do it
Use Clony to read the disk and it will tell you how the settings should be in CloneCd.... That's all

Graphics?
Are you're graphics good? I had a problem with my backup copy and the graphics were crap. Read somewhere (don't remember where though), that one of the PAK files was corrupt. After correcting that...

Try this
Throw GP4 in the bin and get your hands on EA-Sports F1 2002. Much better graphics, 2002 teams, better gameplay,etc. I know, I've tried both and binned GP4.

Try re-install?
I have a backup and 4 backups of add-ons and they all work. Even without CD's! Maybe you should completely remove all (also from Registry) and try re-installing.....

Found it!
As no-one was eager to help I kept on trying and finally succeeded! Look at the JPG to see how CloneCD was setup. Still read errors but made a good working copy in the end!
