Only the Jap PS2 got the Utility Disc. SONY learned their lesson with that release and that is why the put the DVD Drivers right into the PS2 rather then on the Memory Card.

Yup. Using CD-Rwin is the only way to truly backup anything.

And FFT is a good game to backup seeing as how they are no longer making it and has been selling for around $80 on ebay.

I copied it straight from my friends originals and it works just fine. I'm on Disc 2 and i still haven't seen any protection.
