DiRT 3 (DVD9 to 2x DVD5) *Multi 6*
1) Extract 'DiRT3_2xDVD5.7z' contents 2) Copy DVD9's contents to 'Dirt3_2xDVD5\D3_1' folder (don't overwrite the contents) 3) Move from 'DiRT3_2xDVD5\D3_1' folder to 'DiRT3_2xDVD5\D3_2' folder the following files/folders: Code:
Media4.cab file Media5.cab file Media6.cab file autorun.ico file GFWL folder DirectX folder OpenAL folder Rapture3D folder |

thanks to our old/senior members like moddragon, grumpy, joe forster i learn lot of thing like orca, iscab. the knowledge i learn from them very helpful (not only to backup my games). so oftenly i did not want to visit this site, coz i can take care about my own conversion. but red river and dirt 3 makes me crazy this time. so im curious, i want to know is there any way to bypass this hash check. please guys if you know something, share your information with us. Thanks
PS. Am I going off topic, please MOD delete this |

Tha game would install, but you couldnt choose language, and the dependicies ( DX, Openal, Rapture3d ) would have to be installed manually. Peter always finds a way around these maddening conversions, when the norm doesnt seem to work. By either re-writing a new setup.exe to skip over the checking of those md5 hashes, whatever. Always learning more & more from peter... thanks bud. |

the md5 checksums are located in the chaininstall.xml file and tied to ChainInstall.xml.cat & Setup.exe. ( see attached file )

Weird, I find nothing related to MD5 in setup.exe; not even constants related to the MD5 algorithm (a small implementation, for IBM DB2, attached in source). Are you sure that the MD5 checksum is computed in Setup.exe?

i know the md5 values are within the chaininstall.xml, and changing any of the corresponding files->md5 value results in an abort error coming up when trying to use the modified game.msi. Even after changing the msi file as needed, and recalculating the md5 for that changed file, entering its new value in the chaininstall.xml stil causes the error. Probably because the security catalog file has a specific value for the xml file ?
I think peter's conversion just skips that check altogether, and allows the rest of the conversion to continue. ( guessing here as i dont know for sure, and peter doesnt have PM enabled so i can ask about that privately ) Still learning how he does some of these conversions that arent just a simple edit of msi file, or uses newest version that iscab can no longer handle. |

TOTAL POST EDIT! :P
Tested and aproved @ Win7 Ultimate X64, no Service Pack and s**t - and CRC checked! :P The new MSI installer also installs (no pun intended) G4WL, DirectX and Rapture3D installers - and obviously they'll skip if already installed. Now it's time to (mess... er) try the 1xDVD5 conversion! BTW, peterf1999... There's something that annoy me a little in your custom MSI installers: The "box cover" as the "wizard big image", the same happening with your Bulletstorm's DVD9-2-2xDVD5 conversion. Is there some way to (us, normal and mere mortal humans) change that image? If yes, how? Last edited by KillerOh; 10-06-2011 at 05:09. |
