Copy of a Copy

I got was able to get a copy NBA2k1 and get it to work on my DC, but when I try to copy the copy the duplicates never work and i'm not sure why. Also I had a copy of DOA2 that worked fine until I downloaded a save file from the gamefaqs.com and now it doesnt boot any suggestions?
