BBA trouble

For the life of me I can't get the BBA to set up correctly. Ok, I have the 0.0.0.0 IP-slave, i set up my IP to 0.0.0.0 and stuff with q3a. I run BBRip 1.1, record the MAC addy, now heres the question, do i put in any random non-conflicting IP or what? I tried it with 192.168.1.1 / .2 / .5 and 192.168.128.15, I couldn't get it to connect with any of them. I'm getting really tired of this. What the heck am I doing wrong? Should I configure a specific IP in q3a? or what?
Comp. Specs:
AMD K6II-500
128mb pc133 ram
win2k
realtek 10/100mbs ethernet adaptor (nic)
plextor 12x, never had a problem burnin. =)

Thanx again kiddies.

Your DC's IP has to be in the same subnet as your PC and you MUST have the TCP/IP protocol installed, by default, windows only installs netbui and IPX.
your pc is probobly setup in this fashion:
IP=192.168.1.1
subnet=255.255.255.0
gateway=empty
dns=doesn't really matter here

Your DC should be set to something like this:
you BBA's hardware settings(stored on the DC) should be set to defaults. You can use Q3, UT or BBA passport to set these.
IP=0.0.0.0
subnet=0.0.0.0
dns=0.0.0.0
gateway=empty
proxy=empty

Then in BBRip setup an ip that wont conflict and within the same subnet, in your case:
ip=192.168.1.2 - 192.168.1.254
make sure the "add to arp entry" box is checked.
then put in your DC's MAC address in this format:
00-d0-f1-02-4a-2e
Your mac address will be diffrent than the one above, it's just an example. Close BBrip and open it again. Click connect.

With this info you should be able to connect.
follow xena's guide for the rest.

Ok, heres the deal, I normally run the PC on a network, so I've got TCP/IP protocols. Ok I tried going into my network settings and changing it to 192.168.1.1 with subnet 255.255.255.0, and everything else empty like you said. I used Q3A to put the DC on 0.0.0.0 subnet 0.0.0.0, gateway empty, and dns 1 /2 as 0.0.0.0. I put in the MAC addy and checked add ARP. and it still won't connect, (yes i re-booted my PC as well). WTF is going on? =(
