Help with Trainer for USM 98/99 Please

Hello I am trying to make a trainer for an old football manager game (Ultimate Soccer Manager 98/99) to do one simple task. I need the game to begin in 2009 rather than 1998 as I am updating the database to the present day.

I know almost nothing about making trainers but I downloaded Quick Memory Editor and gave it a go. I started the game and the editor and did a search for 1998 and found what I think is the integer that is the year the game begins, I changed this to 2009 and voila the game has changed it's date to 2009 and the players have aged accordingly. Great I thought, how simple! But no, I tested it out a bit and found a big problem. As the first season I played progressed into 2010 all was fine until I completed this season and proceeded to click the NEW SEASON button. However once I did this the new season began but was back in 2009 again rather than staying 2010

Does anyone know what I should be looking to change so that the game will begin in 2009 and continue like it should into 2010, 2011 etc etc?

I can upload the game too if anyone feels like having a look at it for themselves.

Read rule no 1 for a start off. No warez, which is what your offering by giving the game away.

But the best thing for you to do is to find where in the data of the game (not when running but a file) where the year is set and then change it.

I think you're correct in that it would be better to edit the actual game files to change the start year but this has proved very difficult (at least for someone who has no idea what theyre doing more or less!).

I've tried looking at several files in a hex editor but I can't seem to find the relavent data that refers to the year the game begins. All I am doing is searching for the figures 1998 or 98 but have had no success and don't know what else I should be looking for.

If there's anyone out there willing to help with this I can give a donation of $20 for the time and effort whoever it is will have put into doing this for me.

If anyone knows anywhere else (forums, websites etc) I could ask that I might get help please let me know as there are quite a few people looking for me to do an update for this game for which I need it to begin in 2009.

Have you tried this, change year, then save the game, restart the game and load the save and see if it carries through?

There is a chance the game was designed anyway to just reset the year back again after a certain year.

It still happens after I save and reload yeah, i've tried all sorts of combinations and different approaches. The game does not have an end point it just continues indefinately until the pc cant take no more or crashes or whatever. Thanks for the suggestions though
