The Sims Life Stories

Hi, I bought The Sims Life Stories for my netbook and I don't want to carry around the external DVD to play the game. However, I've never used a cd crack before, and even though I've searched the site, I still don't know what to do.

I can't seem to locate the exe file in the program files/electronic arts, or under my documents.

And I don't know the exact 'no cd file' to download and what to do with it even if I work out the correct one to download. Someone please help a newbie at games? Thanks.

Also, I think downloading the game from the EA website might end up easier, but I've heard bad reports about it due to some extra software that downloads with it. Does anyone know if buying the games from the EA website is OK?

SecuROM. I had to go look it up.

They don't put it on the physical copy I bought for Life Stories - but all the games that you buy on their downloads website have it I think.

I've heard it's not good, so another reason I really want to get my physical DVD version of the game going.

personally i've had no problems with securom protected games...
and yep ea use securom... all i can say is don't believe the hype

chances are that if you buy the games from the ea download store then they'll be product activation based.. still securom... so if you don't like securom (do your own research though and come to your own conclusion.. don't believe all you read on the net) then you've really got 2 choices - (a) bite the bullet and play the game, (b) don't buy the game at all... or possibly (c) wait 10 ish years, and maybe a budget release happens which is unprotected (i wouldn't hold my breath on that one though)

Well I did that. I bought it at the store in a physical copy.

I just didn't realise the dvd had to be in the drive every time I play the game, so then I started to think the download may have been better for my netbook.

It's ok when I'm at home as I have my external dvd, but it's a netbook, so I move around a lot and would like to be able to play the game then also.

well you could try making an image using alcohol / daemon tools + yasu / acid (to get around the blacklisting), that could do the task... at worst, you lose a little bit of hdd space on the laptop (for storing the images), could be a good solution, or one that means you don't have to carry the external dvd around with you everywhere)..

Thanks. I didn't need to worry about making the image etc, as I loaded it from the actual disc with my external. I just needed to work out how to play it without my external and a friend helped me with it, so I worked it out thanks.

With regards to securom, I was thinking about buying Castaways, and the disc & the direct dowload from EA both have it, so I would probably rather buy the download out of convenience. Does your AV have any problems with it? I have KIS9.

i've not heard of many problems with securom and anti virus programs recently, so you should be ok, and if you do, you can of course just add it to the exception list
