Jedi Academy issue

Hello sirs,

This is about the game Star Wars: Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy.

I've played Jedi Academy for 2 years without any problems. But recently, I've encountered some serious, annoying problems with this game.

You see, I wanted to play multi-player, but, then when it loads the loader, and enters a black screen (as if it loads JKA and the resolution), it says "Jedi Academy does not work anymore", and shortly after, it stops the program, and exits to desktop.

I've also experienced game freezes, at the point where the animation of Lucasarts (with lightning and a lightsabre) appears. There, it freezes, and stops responding as well. The strange thing is, that it managed to get through for one time, and then not anymore.

I do have my game patched, and I do have updated drivers. My crappy video card is an NVIDIA GeForce 6100 nForce 405 (version: 7.15.0011.8120(English)).
MY sound device's name is Realtek High Definition Audio. The driver is named as RTKVHDA.sys (version: 6.00.0001.5322(English)).

I have also completed a SysCheck, to see if my computer matches the game requirements - passed all.
And, as said before, the odd thing is that I got to play for once (since the problems occurred), and the next times not.

Any help would be appreciated. I'm really eagerly looking forward to be able to play again.

Your first action when encountering a problem like this should always be to update all your drivers to the very latest versions. Sound, graphics, chipset - everything. You only mention sound and graphics. Chipset drivers can also be very important. Did you upgrade those?

If you are using a crack, you should get the new crack that was made recently, but it won't work for the MP section of the game, only SP.

If you are not using a crack, then you should head to Lucasarts for official support.

I didn't upgrade the chipset, no. I don't know where I can find the information of my chipset.

I'm using a NO-CD thing, yes.

1. Does it work without a crack?

2. It is an older game so make sure your patched up to current version.

3. Dont use a crack for an older patched version on a newer patch.

4. Do you own the game?

5. If you ask about how to get a game to work, please post in the correct section of the forum, this section only deals with Backup's.

No, it doesn't work without a crack, unfortunately.

I've always had the latest patch for Jedi Academy. The problem still occurs, whether I have it patched or not. And the SysCheck reported that I've passed every minimum requirement.

My crack isn't outdated, in comparison to the current build/patch of the game.

Uhm, own the game, as in owning the original game on disk? If so, then yes.

My apologies; it won't happen again.

(Wrong forum, moved.)

The latest official update is 1.01. I have a note in my games collection list that there's no multiplayer crack for this game so create a full image of your original disc and use that instead. (I don't play multiplayer so I don't know...) I checked out singleplayer mode just now and it runs fine on my brand new, powerful PC with the latest drivers: the game is based in the Quake 3 (?) engine so it's very robust and should run on your PC, too - it also ran fine on my previous PC when I played it through about a year ago.

Well, that's the thing that makes me wondering... I could play it all the time, before, for 2 years, without problems.. and then, when I got back from dinner a few days ago, it suddenly didn't work. I mean, what could be wrong then? It would seem to be a bit odd to me, as I did play with, either the original disk, or a crack. I also tested a full image of the disk, and it didn't work either.

It now enters the screen with a blue background (and the Jedi Academy giant letters/font). Then, a white little window of windows appears, saying it doesn't work anymore.

If I think carefully; what problem could create itself within a short amount of time?

An important update it seems.

I tried playing JKA MP, and it worked all fine now. But, when I activated my Boba Fett's Ultra Utility (KillTracker), JKA suddenly stops responding. And, then I deactivated it, and it worked again.

I used a crack and now I can play the game, but I can't see the persons, villains or anything else except the scenery and the environment. Can somebody help me?

Does this also occur without a crack? Have you applied the latest official update? See the PC Games forum FAQ.
