Supreme Commander (DVD9 to DVD5)

Acknowledgment: The following conversion was first written by Morglum from cdsteam.org.
Moglum’s original conversion also includes incorporating the Update Patch from version 3189 to 3217 as well as incorporating the cracked exe so that the game installs pre patched and pre cracked.
I have not included the pre patching and pre cracking process in this conversion.
Morglum also supplied the modified layout.bin file used in this conversion.

There have been many variations of his conversion available from various sites on the net.
But I have used and rewritten his conversion for this guide. Parts of his conversion have been changed by me to make it a bit easier to understand.
I have also tested it and found it to work fine.

1) Create a Temp folder on your hardrive.
Name this folder: SupCom.

2) Copy all the contents from the Supreme Commander DVD9 to the Temp folder.

3) Download the extra files needed, from here, and extract the contents of the rar file to the Temp folder, overwrite the layout.bin file when prompted.
Note: The rar file contains the following files:

Iscab.exe
istools.dll
mediabuild40.dll
layout.bin (This layout.bin file was supplied by Morglum (founder of cdsteam.org)

4) Using the Notepad, open the setup.ini file (it is in the Temp folder) and edit the following line:

CHECKMD5=Y

Change it to:

CHECKMD5=N.

Then save the file.

5) Using the Command Prompt (Go to the Start button, then RUN, and type in cmd)
Go to the Temp (SupCom) directory.
Example: I did the conversion in my G: (drive)
I typed in G: then pressed Enter, then I typed in: cd SupCom
(cd means Change Directory)

To create a list.ini file type: iscab data1.cab –i"list.ini" –l

Note the spaces in the command!:

iscab(SPACE)data1.cab(SPACE)–i"list.ini"(SPACE)–l

Also note the last character in the command is a lower case L, NOT a ONE!!

6) Go back into Windows Explorer, browse to the SupCom folder and using the Notepad open the list.ini file.
Delete all the text in the list.ini file except the top 3 lines.

NOTE: The easiest way to do this is to click just behind the 0 at the end of the Version=2.0.
Hold down Ctl+Shift and press End. (This will highlight everything except the top 3 rows of text.
Then press Delete.

Your list.ini file should now look like this:

[ISCAB Info]
Product=ISCAB
Version=2.0

Now Save the file!

7) Again using the Command Prompt (Go to the Start button, then RUN, and type in cmd)
Go to the Temp (SupCom) directory.

Type: iscab data1.cab –i"list.ini" –r

Again note the spaces in the command:

iscab(SPACE)data1.cab(SPACE)–i"list.ini"(SPACE)-r

This will split the data cab file into two cab files.
Data2.cab will be approximately 4GB (4,194,308kB)
Data3.cab will be approximately 2GB (1,979,657kB)
The process will take approximately 10 minutes depending on your system.

8) You can now delete the following files:

Iscab.exe
istools.dll
mediabuild40.dll

Note: During the cab splitting process a file named ISSetup.dll was also created. Do NOT delete this file!
Also, do NOT delete the layout.bin file.

9) Create another folder/s for any Updates, Serial, Patches and or Cracks etc.
NOTE: Name this/these folder/s whatever you want.

10) Using the Notepad, create a text file named: Serial.txt.
Copy your serial to this text file and Save it in the Temp folder.

11) DVD 1
Burn the contents of the Temp folder, except the Crack folder, the Update folder and the data3.cab file, to a DVD with the Label: SupCom1EFIS

12) DVD 2
Using the Notepad open the autorun.inf file and edit the following line:

OPEN=autorun.exe

to

OPEN=0

So the autorun.inf file now looks like this:

[autorun]
open=0
icon=icon.ico

Then save it.
NOTE: Editing the autorun.inf file will stop the Windows Explorer window from opening when inserting Disk 2.
By also including the Icon file, on Disc 2, as well as including the autorun.inf file will give your DVD an icon in Windows Explorer when the DVD is inserted.

Then burn the Update folder, the Crack folder, the data3.cab file, the edited autorun.inf file and the icon.ico file to another DVD using the same label as the first DVD: SupCom1EFIS

Supreme Commander DVD9 - 1xDVD5

Supreme Commander DVD9 to 1xDVD5 (English Only)
NOTE: Follow these steps carefully & exactally.
===============================================

1. Make sure you have atleast 15Gb free on your 'C:\'

2. Download scpbxino.zip from the download link supplied.
(This includes Inno Setup 5.1.6 which is free)

3. Install your Original Supreme Commander to 'C:\scdata'
NOTE: you MUST install Supreme Commander to this folder
so that the full game path is 'C:\scdata\Supreme Commander\'

4. Extract 'scpbxino.zip' to your 'C:\' in the root and
run the 'C:\scdvd5e.bat' file to clean up the game folder.
*** NOTE: THIS IS FOR ENGLISH ONLY. ***

5. Open the 'C:\scinno\Compil32.exe' file, this will launch
Inno Setup, open 'C:\scinno\scredist.iss' using Inno Setup.

6. In Inno Setup choose Build -> Compile.
(This can take 2 to 3 hours depending on your PC)

7. Once compiled, copy the following files from your DVD
to 'C:\scdvd5' keeping the original directory structure.
\adobe\AdbeRdr80_en_US.exe
\autorun.exe
\autorun.inf
\dxwebsetup.exe
\icon.ico
\readme.txt

8. Make a folder for your updates / cracks / whatever.
(I don't supply these, look for them on GCW)

9. Burn the contents of the 'C:\scdvd5' directory to a DVD5
and make the DVD label "SupCom1EFIS" without quotes.

10. Once done, you can Uninstall Supreme Commander and delete
the following folders and all the contents inside.
'C:\scdata\*.*'
'C:\scdvd5\*.*'
'C:\scinno\*.*'
'C:\scdvd5e.bat'
'C:\readmesc.txt'

11. Install Supreme Commander using your serial number in
the form of ****-****-****-****-**** and enjoy your
newly created DVD5 version of Supreme Commander

NOTE: You might want to include these extra files but they
are not absolutly neccessary, add them to the support
folder 'c:\scdvd5\support' before burning the DVD.
DirectX Redist, DotNETfx2, Both can be downloaded
free from Microsofts Website.

Download files here (13.79 MB)
http://rapidshare.com/files/25269444/scpbxino.zip.html
or
http://www.mediafire.com/?1zmmgymqvdt

This process might take a while, but it's the only way I
could get the whole game on only 1 DVD5.

Thanx to BarryB for the mention of Inno Setup

We should collect them into a single thread. (Remember the "homepage thread" I was talking about?)

I have fixed the link in the original post, thanks Pakrat.

I do hope to track down the dead and missing files for other conversions over the next few weeks or so.
