can anyone help?

ive got a niggling problem with fixed exe. files. Its happening everytime i do this.

I download a cracked exe. and when i swap it for the original exe. the icon of the crack turns to a default exe. icon and windows wont let me open it. I get the message 'windows cannot access the specified device, path or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access this file. Ive searced the problem and all i came up with was that its common in the case where you take something from another PC. It must be unblocked via the file properties when being logged on as an administrator. This isnt the case as i am on the admin account and there is no unblock option in the file properties. This is happening with all fixed exe. cracks. Am i doing something wrong? if anyone could help id be very gratefull.

Thanks

Sounds more like a virus I would say... What happen if you try to run the fixed.exe files BEFORE replacing them? Do they work (they will 99,9% return an error because of missing files, but they should do at least something different then turning into a "systemfiled icon".)?

Saying if your on Vista or XP would have helped.

If vista make sure you set permissions on the file.

If XP good chance its a replicating virii that replicates itself onto exe files when run, copied or pasted.
