I haven't used Outlook Express, but in the "real" Outlook you can EXPORT almost all objects.

I backup my entire email, address book etc quite often using a program called "Outlook Express Freebie Backup".

Its very easy to use and takes the hassle of doing it all manually.

Backup your entire Outlook Express details from the old computer, copy the backed up files and the program to the new system, then use the 'Restore' feature of Outlook Express Freebie Backup to put it all back on the new system.

Search for it with Google, and like the name suggests, its free.

Its simple actually, you just have to do this while in OE goto File at top and export, then messages (even the address book if you wish) and save them.

Then import them later.

But if you installed IE 7 the new Outlook Express (now Microsoft Mail) makes it even easier, choose where to save etc.

On backup i know small, but for restore information there is a outlook express dbx repair, it can reads .dbx files in which Outlook Express stores folders and identifies e-Mails stored in them, recovered messages can be opened by Microsoft Outlook Express and easy moved/copied to its folders and any other programs.
