Overheating prob
I have a 360 here that appears to have an intermittent overheating problem. It will play for hours (never days) then suddenly lock up & the button goes red.
Putting the machine in the plastic back & allowing it to overheat temporarily fix's the fault allowing the machine to play again for up to 24 hrs. After that we have the red button again but I can't request that my customer puts his console in a Tesco carrier every day. Any ideas where the fault lies & how to fix this? Thanks in advance

When the button goes red, and you attempt to restart it, do you see any on-screen Error messages?
Best thing to do, would be to take the case off, the motherboard out and replace the thermal paste on the processor and GPU. These have caused notorious problems as MS simply scraped a few pennies by not applying enough or using the thermal tape - both of which do as you describe. The best replacement would be Arctic Silver 5 paste - as this has been known to fix this issue with great effect

Actually most of the overheating problems comes from too much thermal paste and its lack of quality. There has never been to little on but too much gives bad effect especially with the low quality.
The best solution I think would be to contact the xbox support and see what they would to about it. If they'll fix it for you for a small sum, go for it. Otherwise I guess you could fix it on your own.

You can probably buy a system from walmart, swap it, then return the thing.
